AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE HARTSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE, ITS DIRECTORS, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR CAPTURING THE 2014 SOUTH CAROLINA BAND DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, well prepared for the challenge, the Hartsville High School indoor percussion ensemble reached the pinnacle for the second straight year, claiming the title at the 2014South Carolina Band Directors Association (SCBDA) State Championship; and
Whereas, after the crown was secure, elatedHartsville fans began making plans to watch these outstanding musicians score a “threepeat” victory next year; and
Whereas, Hartsville High School’s indoor percussion ensemble, the Regime, was founded in November 2012 under the direction of J. Lance Stockton, Marlin Ketter, Scott Bullard, Curtis Scott, Ben Holden, and Janet Miller. The group’s purpose was to provide students with the opportunity to experience the percussion realm, regardless of prior experience, and, in the process, to promote the percussive arts throughout the Hartsville community through a variety of performance venues and audiences; and
Whereas, competing for the first time in March 2013, these musicians, at their final performance of 2013,took home an SCBDA State Championship, Hartsville High’sfirst band title; and
Whereas, during the 2014 season, the Regimehas continued its upward climb in nailing this second SCBDA state title, performing a show entitled Solitude, which personifies the emotions of solidarity; and
Whereas, making a sweet season even sweeter, the group carried away a title win at the Carolina Winter Ensemble Association Regional Championship; and
Whereas, proud of their fine work, the House of Representatives is appreciative of the welldeserved praise these musicians have brought to their school and community and congratulates the Regime on its outstanding record. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Hartsville High School indoor percussion ensemble, its directors, and school officials for capturing the 2014South Carolina Band Directors Association State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Charlie Burry, Jr., and Band Director J. Lance Stockton of Hartsville High School.
