Workshop Aim
This workshop aims to inform clinicians and workers of the treatment and service options available in both the mental health sector and the alcohol and drug sector, including those offered by Community Mental Health and Non-Government Organisations. It will address the various referral pathways available and how both the mental health and alcohol and drug sectors can work collaboratively to the benefit of the client/consumer.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Identify the range of treatment options and services available to clients/consumers with AOD issues
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the adolescent and adult mental health services provided by SA Health, including Community Mental Health Teams and Mental Health Triage
- Identify the mental health programs and services provided by non-government organisations
- Implement the most appropriate referral pathway to ensure the best service outcome for the client/consumer
- Recognise how the different mental health and AOD services can work together
Eligibility / Entry Requirements
Open to all service providers for whom working with mental health and alcohol and other drug issues forms a part of their daily work in policy, practice and service delivery.
