EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
Defence Determination 2007/73
This Determination amends Defence Determination 2005/15, Conditions of Service (the Principal Determination), made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903 (the Act). Chapter13 of the Principal Determination sets out provisions dealing with members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF)on short-term duty overseas.
The purpose of this Determination is to implement new short-term duty travel allowance rates.
Clause 1 of this Determination sets out the manner in which this Determination may be cited.
Clause 2 provides that the Determination commences on 1 January 2008, as the rates amended give effect to an annual review of rates.
Clause 3 specifies that the amendment is made to the Principal Determination, as amended.
Clause 4 substitutes Annex 13.3.Aof the Principal Determination. The Annex amends the travel allowance rates for member short-term duty overseas.
- Rates for 74 of the posts have increased. This represents 86% of the posts listed in Annex13.3.A;
- Rates for 9 of the posts have reduced. This represents 10.5% of the posts listed in Annex13.3.A;
- Rates for 3 of the posts have remained stable. This represents 3.5% of the posts listed in Annex13.3.A.
