Section Head, Organizational Development

Come and showcase your leadership and management skills in this unique role with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, where you will initiate, promote and support change initiatives for the Centre for Forensic Sciences (CFS) that will positively impact on public safety.

As the Organizational Development Section Head, you will provide strategic leadership and advice for the training, library and research and development program of the CFS.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Manage the staff development and client education programs of the CFS

• Plan, coordinate and facilitate comprehensive training and development strategies for the CFS, including the provision of library services

• Lead the research and development program to discover and to adapt to changing organizational and forensic science needs

• Manage resources (including budget and staff) to meet current and future organizational requirements

• Create and promote a productive team environment and customer service culture within the organization

How do I qualify?

Operational Coordination

You have:

• Experience providing expert advice to management on staff development, client education, library services and research and development.

• Understanding of change management principles and experience implementing organizational transition activities.

• Knowledge of the research requirements of forensic science staff in order to ensure that library materials and services assist in meeting needs.

• Experience with and understanding of adult education theories and practices.

• Led research projects relating to emerging training/learning technologies, trends, developments and best practices.

• The ability to acquire and apply knowledge of CFS mandate, objectives and strategic directions to develop operational plans.

Management and Leadership Skills

You have:

• Experience building an inclusive workplace that fosters openness and a team approach to accomplishing tasks and objectives.

• The ability to manage unit staff, including the management of human resources and labour relations matters.

• The ability to acquire and apply knowledge of collective agreement and the Public Service Act to supervise staff effectively.

Communication Skills

You have

• Experience working with staff and managers to provide recommendations on learning strategies and multi-year plans.

• Developed and maintained strategic relationships with external groups to ensure operational strategies reflect client needs.

Technical Knowledge

You have:

• Knowledge of issues relevant to forensic science, including limitations of scientific methods, scene of crime matters, court issues and landmark decisions, international issues and general awareness of forensic science theories, practices, techniques, precedents and issues related to the broad range of disciplines at CFS.

• Knowledge of relevant forensic laboratory standards for training, including nationally and internationally recognized standards needed to ensure compliance of training programs with quality assurance requirements and the needs of clients in the Justice System.

Salary Range: $81,636 - $106,655 per year
