1.Intent

Itis theintent ofthisspecification todetailasafe,efficient,cost-effectiveinstallation methodofInsignia™O-Ringhydrophiliccompressionsealinggasketsforcreatinga compressiongasketsealattheends ofCIPPLiners.This hydrophilicsealingproductis intendedforuseinconjunctionwithmostallCuredin-placepiperehabilitationsystems, includingbutnotlimitedto:invertedCIPPliners,pull-in-placeCIPPliners,andfold-and-form plasticpipeliners.TheInsignia™O-RingproductshallbecommerciallyavailablefromLMK Technologiesoradistributorforuseasanadjuncttorehabilitativepipeliningprojectsona price perkitbasis.

2.Overview

2.1TheInsignia™O-Ringproductandprocessconsistsofprovidingafull-circlesealattheends andoverlappingpointsof alinerby usingacylindricalring of hydrophilicmaterialspecifically tailoredtoprovidecuredinplacepipeinstallationwithalevelofwater-tightcompression gasketsealing comparabletonew pipinginstallation at theendsof aCure in-Placeliner.

2.2TheInsignia™O-Ringproductandprocessconsistsofahydrophilicmaterialthatdoesnot shiftormoveduringinstallationofacuredin-placerehabilitativepipeliner.Additionally, theInsignia™O-Ringproductprovidesauniformsealandconsistentwallthicknessaround thepipeendafterinstallationofapipeliner.Furthermore,theInsignia™O-Ringproduct doesnot require arduous cleaningof the pipeendbefore installation.

2.3TwomethodsarecommonlyutilizedandassociatedwiththeinstallationofInsignia™O- Rings.Forpullinplaceliners,theO-Ringisfrangiblyattachedtotheresin-saturatedCIPP liner.WhenthelinerisinflatedandtheresiniscuredtheO-Ringbecomesembedded betweenthelinerandhostpipe.ForinvertedCuredin-Placeliners,theInsignia™O-Ringis attachedtotheinsideofthelinerbeforeresinsaturation.Uponinversionoftheresin- saturatedliner,theO-ringispositionedbetweenthelinerandthehostpipe,andupon contact with waterthe O-Ringswellseffectivelycreatinga compressiongasketseal.

3.Material

3.1ThematerialsutilizedfortheInsignia™O-Ringshallbeprovidedinkitsdesignedto accommodatevaryingpipediameters,manholedepths,junctionconfigurations,andcured inplacelinerproducts.TheInsignia™O-Ringkitsarecompatiblewithmostcuredinplace rehabilitativepipelinerproducts,includingcured-in-place,andfold-and-formAdditionally, theInsignia™O-Ringkitmaybeusedwithmanydifferentpipelinerinstallationandcuring methods,includinginversion,pull-in-place,hotwatercuring,steamcuring,ultraviolet curing, andambientcuringmethods.

3.2CylindricalRing:ThememberthatcreatestheO-Ringisahydrophilicneoprenerubberof approximately50ShoreAdurometer.Thetubularsleevehasauniformwallthicknessof approximately2mm,alengthofapproximately3.5inches,andadiameterslightlylessthan theinteriorpipediameter.Thehydrophilicneoprenerubberhasthefollowing characteristics:

3.3Sizes: The Insignia O-Ringsare available in sizes of 4”,5”,6”,8”,10”, 12”, 15”,18”,21”,

24”,27”,30”,36”,42”,and48”.

3.4Adhesive:ForinstallingCuredinPlacelinerswiththeinversionprocess,adhesivemaybe usedtoattachtheInsignia™O-ringtotheinsideoftheliner.TheadhesiveenablestheO- Ring toremaininpositionduringinstallationof the liner throughthe processofinversion.

4.InstallationRecommendations

4.1Access:SincetheO-Ringsareplacedonthelineraboveground,accesstoamanholeisnot required.However,accesstothemanholemayberequiredforthelinerinstallationprocess dependingonthetypeofrepair.TodeterminethesizeoftheInsignia™O-Rings,thepipe interioratthemanholeshallbemeasuredfrom6:00to12:00andfrom3:00to9:00.The mean shallbethe nominalinner diameter.

4.2CleaningandInspection:Allroots,deposits,anddebrisshouldberemovedfromthepipe withhydraulicallypoweredequipment,highvelocityjetcleaners,ormechanicallypowered equipmentasperNASSCOrecommendedspecificationsforsewercollectionsystem rehabilitation.SincetheInsignia™O-Ringprovidesasealbasedoncompressioninsteadof adhesion,extensivecleaningbeyondobviousobstructionsisoptional. Afull-circlesealat theendsofthelinerwillbeachievedregardlessofthepresenceoffats,oils,andgrease whichisinherentinsewer pipesevenafterhighvelocityjetcleaning.Itshouldbe notedthat thevariouspiperehabilitationinstallationmethodshavedifferentinstallationstandards (such asASTMstandardsand manufacturer’s recommendations),and thoseinstallation standards shouldbeobserved duringinstallationof the liner.

4.3InstallationofaRehabilitativeLiner:AftertheInsignia™O-Ringproducthasbeenplacedon theliner,therehabilitativelinerproductshallbeinstalledintothepipe.TheInsignia™O- Ringproductis intended foruseinconjunctionwithmostpiperehabilitationsystems, includingbutnotlimitedto:cured-in-placepipelinersandfold-and-formpipeliners.The Insignia™O-Ringkitmaybeusedwithmanydifferentpipelinerinstallationandcuring methodsincluding,inversion,pull-in-place,hotwatercuring,steamcuring,ultraviolet curing,andambientcuring.SincetheInsignia™O-Ringproducthasauniformwallthickness andisheldfirmlywithinthepipetoberehabilitated,acompressionsealwillbeprovidedat theendoftheliner.SincetheInsignia™O-Ringproductmaybeusedwithavarietyof rehabilitativepipeliners,thestandardinstallationpracticesofeachindividualpipeliner methodshouldbecloselyfollowed.ProceduresthatmeetapplicableNASSCO,ASTM,NACE andSSPCstandardsandprovidequalityassurancecontrolsthatmeetthemanufacturer’s printedrecommendationsshouldbe used.
