Dear Parents/Carer(s)

I cannot quite believe five years have passed and I am writing to you to finalise the arrangements for the exam season and your child’s final weeks at Penryn College.

The brain needs food to function. Did you know 70% of Yr 11 nationally don’t eat breakfast? From 14th May to 15th June, breakfast is available from 8.25am in the Children’s Centre. In addition, tea/coffee and biscuits will be available for Yr 11 students after school in the TIA to boost their energy levels as they go into after school revision sessions. This space is available for quiet study.

The Exam Timetablelink is hereand also available on the Showbie page. Before each exam, students are invited to a final 8.30am/12.50pm briefing from their teacher in their classroom or Kernewek Hall. An extensive range of revision classes, plus information on how to support your child with revision/wellbeing is also available on the Showbie page.

All students are expected to attend all of their lessons until Friday 15thJune unless they are one of the very few number of students who finish their exams before this date.Once an exam has been taken, teachers will supervise silent revision and other supporting activities. After 15thJune, only students who have not yet finished their exams will be expected to attend.

We do insist that students attend examinations in full school uniform. Anyone not in the correct uniform will wear uniform provided by the school. In particular, nose studs must be removed or covered with tape. The school does not provide tape for this purpose.

The date of the final exam is recorded on your child’sLeaving Card. The Leaving Cardmust besigned by staff and returned to Student Reception on or before 25thJune.

The Leavers’ Celebration Day on 25thJuneis a highlight of the year and will culminate in a very special Leavers’ Assembly. Students should attend school from 11.20am in smart casual dress, bringing any school shirts on which they wish to collect signatures. After lockers are emptied, we will provide all students with a complimentary lunch. This will be the final chance to hand in iPads, cases, chargers, leads and boxes. Further details of the iPad collection will be communicated to students shortly. Yearbook and Prom tickets will also be available to collect on this day.

GCSE results are available on 23rdAugust 8.30am-12.00pm. Exam results legally belong to your child. If you are collecting the results on behalf of your child, we must have written permission from your child.

Yr 11 are working hard as their final exams approach and will deal with the pressure in lots of different ways. We have been encouraging them to keep a good healthy lifestyle balance. If they eat and sleep well they will approach their exams in the best frame of mind possible. Your support, as always, makes a huge difference in the lead up to their exams.

Please let us know if there is anything more we can do to help at this critical time. Thank you for entrusting your child to us. It has been a real pleasure watching them grow into the responsible young adults who leave us soon.

Yours faithfully

Paul Walker
