OMNIPOD HOMEWORK FOR SALINE START

o  Attend Pump Preparation class (required) at the BDC. This class will be scheduled through your dietician here at the BDC.

o  New pumpers must do your 3 day food records and fax to one of the dieticians at least a week before your training (required). If this has not been done, you will not be permitted to attend the training.

o  Call Susie Owen, RN, CDE (303-724-6729) to schedule your saline and insulin start.

o  Go through the on-line training tutorial at http://www.myomnipod.com/customer-care/interactive-training/

o  Read chapters 1-4 of your Omnipod User Manual.

o  Read the pump chapter in the Pink Panther book (Understanding Insulin Dependent Diabetes)

1.What is the largest amount of short acting insulin you’ve ever taken at one time?

2. Count the hours between your last normal eating time of the day and your first?

3. How many units of both sort and long acting insulin do you use each day?

o  Set up your capability for downloading your PDM. The cable is in the box with your pump. The software is on the web www.myomnipod.com/customer-care/download-software/
