British Response –
- What goal did the British intend to accomplish by passing the Coercive/Intolerable Acts? Did this theory work, explain?
Colonial Response –
- How did the restrictions passed by the British effect the American colonies, explain? What was the purpose of the Committee of Correspondence?
- Describe the meeting of the First Continental Congress. Identify the accomplishments of this group.
- Prior to the creation of the Declaration of Independence being written in 1776 did the colonist want to be independent, explain? At the beginning of the American Revolution how was the population of the American colonies divided over the idea of war with Britain?
Early Conflict in Massachusetts –
- What was beginning to form in many communities throughout Massachusettsafter British took control of Boston? Who were the Minutemen? Who was General Thomas Gage?
- What was the goal of the General Gage and his troops after Massachusetts had been declared in a state of rebellion?
- Describe the situation that developed at Lexington and Concord. Define the following people and how they participate within these situations: Francis Smith, Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott.
- Describe the experience of the British forces as they march back to Boston from Concord.

The Colonies Switch to the Idea of Independence–
- Identify and describe the reasons that the rebellious section of the colonial population decided to become independent from Britain.
Independence –
- Who proposed the resolution for Independence? Who made up the committee that created the Declaration of Independence and why did they create this document, explain?
- What are the main parts of the Declaration of Independence? When was this document approved?
- What was the reaction to this document and the idea of independence by the different parts of the American colonies population?
