Non-year round swimmers
- All practices are MANDATORY (you are part of a TEAM!)
- All absences must be approved by a coach ahead of time to be excused.
- Excessive unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the team.
Year-Round swimmers
- All year round swimmers are required to meet individually with the coaches to discuss the expectations of attendance
- You may attend any practices with the BT team.
- You are encouraged to attend all team building and social events..
All swimmers
- BE COMMITTED!!! This means attending practices, cheering for each other at meets, and keeping a positive attitude.
- Socialize with your team! We are in this together!
- At Gold’s:
- Check in at front desk
- You MUST be respectful of the people who are members there. We do NOT have the exclusive use of the pool. We are guaranteed 5 lanes.
- All bags must be stored and locked in the locker room or against the windows on the pool deck.
- Swimmers must shower before entering the pool.
- Other parts of the gym, the hot tub, and the sauna are OFF LIMITS!
- Locker rooms must be squeegeed each day after practice.
- You are responsible for getting rides/carpooling to practice. There will be no bus to practices.
- Meets transportation:
- Meets immediately after school: you MUST ride on provided bus to meet; we will let you know if there will be a bus back or not
- Meets late in the evening: you are responsible for your own ride
- Meets on the weekend: you are responsible for your own ride
- You are expected to attend all meets, even if you are not swimming. You also must stay until the end of the meet unless you attain special permission.
- At meets:
- Change, stretch, and warm up
- Cheers & prayer
- Keep team area clean
- Afterwards, cheer for other team & thank referees
- If you have a conflict with a practice or meet, you MUST see or email Coach Oliver or Coach Miller ASAP.
- Definitions of absences (see above for consequences):
- Excused absence: sickness, with note from doctor or parent; death in family; confirmation classes
- Unexcused absence: concert, overslept, detention, work on service hours, too much homework, project due.
- If you get an administrative detention, you have to sit out an event you normally would swim in addition to consequences at practice. Your behavior in school affects the team. Being on the swim team is a privilege and you need to treat it as such.
- We expect sportsmanlike behavior at all times (at practice, at meets, in school, and outside of school). You are representatives of the school and of Christ. So, please act like Christians to each other and with others that we come in contact.
- Drugs and alcohol use will not be tolerated. It will result in becoming ineligible for swimming as well as other sports.
- You are expected to keep up your grades. Swimmers need to be competent athletes and students.
- The number of events you swim is up to the discretion of the coaches and there may be times, where we are limited in the number of swimmers in each event.
- If you have specific events you want to swim, you must put it in writing to Coach Oliver or Coach Milleras far in advance as possible. We will not take requests from parents, only swimmers.
- Swimmers are expected to be healthy athletes, which includes healthy eating and enough sleep (7-8 hours).
- Always eat breakfast!
- 3-5 fruits & vegetables servings per day
- whole grains & good protein
- no more than 2 “junk” items per day (soda counts and actually read the proper serving amounts for sweets)
- no energy drinks (i.e. Red Bull, Full Throttle)
- Gatorade and other sports drinks only during workouts
- 2% or less milk
- drink lots of water—everyone MUST have water bottle at practice
- on meet days: no junk foods or dairy products until after all races have been swum
