June 5, 2017

This meeting was called to order by Mayor Allan Lowe at 6:15 p.m.

PRESENT: Mayor Allan Lowe, Mayor Pro Tem Andy O’Riley Council Members: Jeff Franklin,

Melissa Klos, Mirelda Sanchez Tokarczyk

ABSENT: Amber Weerstra, Kevin Wisniewski

STAFF: City Manager Jared Olson, City Attorney John Schrier, City Treasurer Sarah Petersen,

Mayor Lowe called the regular meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.

Council Member Franklin provided the invocation.

2017-101 PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS

Kathy Olsen, 1060 W. Broadway Ave, asked about the tree removal clean up.

Council Member Franklin moved to approve the Consent Agenda. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried.

8A. City Tree Removal

Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley moved to approve the expenditure of $20,390.50 to Get-R-Cut Tree Service for the 2017 citywide tree and stump removal. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried.

8B. 2017 Roosevelt Park Day /Taste of the Trucks Liquor License Application

Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley moved to adopt the resolution and authorize City Staff to apply for a Special License from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission for a one (1) day alcohol sale for Roosevelt Park Day/Taste of the Trucks on September 9, 2017. The special license application fee is $50.00. This motion was supported by Council Member Franklin and carried.

8C. Recreation Authority Committee Appointment

Council Member Franklin moved to appoint City Manager Jared Olson as representative for the City of Roosevelt Park on the Recreation Authority Committee. City Manager Olson will replace Council Member Franklin on this Committee. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried.

8D. Title VI Plan Update Adoption

Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley moved to approve the revision of the Title VI Plan to update the change of City Manager from Bryon Mazade to City Manager Jared Olson. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried.

8E. Monday, July 3, 2017 City Council Meeting

Mayor Pro Tem O’Riley moved to approve to reschedule the City Council meeting from

Monday, July 3, 2017 to Monday, July 10, 2017 due to the next day being the Fourth of

July holiday. This motion was supported by Council Member Franklin and carried.

2017-107 PUBLIC COMMENT

Kristy Grevel, 1307 W. Summit Ave., shared neighborhood concerns.

Kathy Olsen, 1060 W. Broadway Ave., shared that she will be running for a seat on the

City Council in the November 7th election.

Greg VanWoerkom, District Director for Representative Bill Huizenga, introduced

himself and stated that if there are any issues they would like to discuss, feel free to contact him.

Council Member Franklin moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:04 p.m. This motion was supported by Council Member Klos and carried unanimously.
