Basic Instructions on How to Post on Craigslist.org

1. Open up an internet browser.
2. Type in the address bar www.craigslist.org and click ENTER.
3. Click on the State under United States that you wish to post on.
4. After you’ve selected the state you’d like to post in, you’ll have to select the city you’d like to post your ad in (you should make note that in the address bar it shows which state you’re posting in).
5. Once you’ve selected the city you’d like to post your ad in, another screen will show which will be the Craigslist site for that city you’ve selected. The Jobs section (IBOs) and the Community sections (Both, but mainly Memberships) are the key areas that you can post your ads in. (Make note that the address has changed to include the city’s name in the url. See green arrow)
Select a category to post your ad in under the JOB section or click on Post to Classifieds in the far left under the craigslist title. *You may be required to set up an account, if you don’t receive that message, and then proceed to the next step. If you do receive that message, set-up your account and DO NOT use your ameriplan.net, iboplus.com, mybenefitsplus.com email addresses. Please use a free email account that you’ve set up for advertising purposes such as with yahoo.com, gmail.com, hotmail.com, or mail.com.
6. Depending upon what you are trying to post (career or membership); you would chose the corresponding type of posting.
In this example, we’re going to post a career ad, so we’ll select “job offered.”
7. Next you will see the job posting guide lines; you just click the “I will abide by these guidelines” button after you’ve read them.
8. Next you will select which category you would like to post your ad in. You should have different ads done up to be used in different categories.
9. Next screen, fill in each required field: Posting Title (For example Customer Service Reps for Independent Office), Reply to (your email address- not AmeriPlan email accounts), you can either show your email address, hide it (and you’ll have to include contact info in the ad), or anonymize it using Craigslist system. (Not recommended to anonymize it, do one or the other two, preferably hide it and show whatever contact info you want in the ad), Description, and Compensation. You can fill out Specific Location (put the city or state your currently advertising or Telecommute); check the Telecommuting Ok box, Part-time box, Contract (if you want since we are Contractors), others are optional.
10. Then click the CONTINUE button to move to the next screen.
11. You will see the following message with your ad below it to do a final check before it’s posted. Make sure you look over the ad to proof and edit it before submitting it.
12. Then click CONTINUE if you are done to move to the next screen or click EDIT to go back to the previous screen and make additional edits.
13. Next, you read the Terms of Use and click ACCEPT the terms of use.
14. Next you will be prompted to set up a Craigslist account. Fill in your email address and type the verification word. Then click CREATE ACCOUNT.
15. The next screen will be the confirmation notifying you that your account has been created. But you must check your email account for the link to activate your account.
16. Then you will need to check your email account (that you used to set up the account) and follow the remainder of the verification procedure that Craigslist has to make your ad go live (appear on the site). You will have to create a password and then just re-proof your ad (like steps 11-13). Also, you will see that you are logged in as your user (email address). Then after you confirmed your ad, you will see the following screen:
*NOTE: Yes, it does something about MLMs, business opportunities, etc., but we choose to post on there since we operate much like insurance agents and they have more fees then we do! And Insurance agents are allowed to post, so we should tooJ! Don’t even focus on that. Just post!
17. Then you are finish! Congratulations on posting your first ad on Craigslist! You will receive an email with a link to see your ad once it is live. You will want to check on it to see if you see it posted on there.
Now you want to wait before you post another ad on the site. Do not post more than 2 ads in a 45 minute period. Go post on another site a couple of ads then come back to Craigslist and post a different ad using a different email account and in a different area/city as well as category.
