“Come Home for the Holidays”

Fairport’s Annual Community Tree Lighting Event Dec. 4

Celebration Centered In Traditional Kennelley Park Venue

Horse and Wagon Rides, Fire Department Band joins Santa for family fun!

The Fairport Perinton Merchants Association, Village of Fairport and the Fairport Village Partnership are once again teaming up to present the “Come Home for the Holidays” annual community tree lighting event in the village business district.

The event will feature activities at the Kennelly Park Gazebo from 3 to 6p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010.

Horse-drawn wagon rides will carry attendees along Main Street between Fairport Junction and Kennelley Park throughout the afternoon. The rides cost $1 or a non-perishable food item, all of which will be given to the Perinton Food Shelf.

There will be musical performances by organ grinder Tim Wagner and his “Finster Baby” Vienna Woods Belly Organ at 3pm, and, new this year, Pete “The Mayor” Kennedy of 98.9 The Buzz will perform a reading of “T’was the Night Before Christmas” at 3:30pm.

Santa will arrive by antique fire truck at 4 p.m. where he will greet kids of all ages as the Fairport Fire Department Band performs holiday favorites. Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided free for all, courtesy of Moonlight Creamery and Fairport Savings Bank, respectively.

The event will culminate with the lighting of the village holiday tree, at 5 p.m.

And, weather permitting, there will also be ice skating on the rink at Fairport Junction. Unseasonably warm weather has hindered ice making efforts thus far. Call the Town of Perinton Recreation and Parks Information Line to learn if the rink is open: 425-1170.
