2009 Fall SECTION V GYMNASTIC INFORMATION

Sectional Information

1. November 7, 2009, Saturday, start time: 10:00 AM.

2. SUNY Brockport

3. Schedule: 8:45 PM - check-in, bar settings and stretch.

9:15 – Coaches meeting

9:40 - Line up for entry.

9:45 - March in; introduction of gymnasts.

10:00 - Competition begins

**Like last year first ½ of squad will warm up before march out and then touch after.

4. Admission:

Hands will be stamped at the door. $4 for everyone.

Bus drivers should identify themselves as such to be admitted without charge.

Qualification

5. Sectionals - total of best 3 meet scores and finals.

The top 28 gymnasts will qualify in each event. No scores will be accepted after the Monroe County Meet. Finals will be the Monroe County Tournament, or other designated tournament.

Team Championships: top four teams with highest score at the Monroe County Tournament will qualify. This includes both league and non-league team scores. In the event that they do have 4 qualifying gymnasts in each event, additional competitors may be added for a minimum of 4 competitors in each event.

**If ill or injured for finals, the best 3 scores will be averaged. If the score falls within the qualifying scores, the gymnast will be entered in the Sectional competition.

6. Section V State Gymnastics Team Selection - total of the best 3 meet scores average, finals, and sectionals (3 scores altogether).

The State Team will be made up of the top three all-around plus the next three in each event.

**If ill or injured for sectionals, the best 3 meet scores and the finals score will be averaged. If both finals and Sectionals are missed, the best 3 meet scores will be averaged. If this average falls within the top 3 of the events competed in, the Sectional Coaches will consider her for the team.

**A doctor’s statement regarding the individual in question must be in the possession of the Sectional Coordinator prior to the meet. The statement should indicate the extent of the illness or injury and possible participation in following meets.

7. State Team Tie Breaking System:

A. Sectional score; B. Finals score; C. Average of 3 best meet scores; D. Average of the last 3 meet scores prior to finals; E. Most consistent league scores.

8. Committee of Appeals (unforeseen circumstances):

A. Sectional Coordinator

B. Officials Representative

C. League Representative

Team Championship

9. The team championship will be based upon the results of the Sectional Meet, counting 4 scores for each event.

Miscellaneous

10. Gymnasts will wear the school issued uniform/leotard

11. Gymnasts are responsible for their own valuables.

NYSPHSAA New York State Gymnastics Championship Meet

February 27, 2010; Section 8, Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, NY

Note: Any gymnast who makes the Section V State Team will be expected to practice with the team on the following dates: February 22-25, plus other dates TBA by the state team coaches and coordinator to meet the required number of practices during the winter season to participate in the State competition. Qualified gymnast’s coach will be responsible for the required number of practices during the winter season.

**Gymnasts will again be required to sign a commitment letter in order to make sure they are well prepared for the competition.
