ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Please list your Tasmanian academic qualifications including degree(s) and/or diploma(s) conferred by the University of Tasmania, or the Tasmanian College of Advanced Education (prior to 1980) or the Tasmanian State Institute of Technology (1980–91)
Eligibility
The Residency is for a 2 - 6month period, commencing January 2015. Preference will be given to Tasmanian Visual Arts Graduates who currently reside in Tasmania.
Application
You are required to provide the following attachments to your application:
- One page only Curriculum Vitae including current address and most recent educational details, professional employment, awards, scholarships and travel, and (where appropriate) exhibitions, collections, commissions and selected bibliographical information.
- A convincing supporting letter outlining objectives of the stay in Paris; specifically, “why Paris?” This document should also give the selection panel some indication of your current professional developments.
- The names, addresses and telephone numbers of two referees. Your referees are required to send a confidential report directly to the address below, strictly byCOB Monday 8September 2014. The report may be faxed if necessary to (03) 62264308, with the original to follow by mail.
- Supporting material, either:
- A maximum of 10 mounted 35mm slides of works of artcompleted by the applicant during the past eighteen months, clearly labelled and with the full slide details on a separate A4 sheet; or
- The 10 works of art may be presented as a PowerPointpresentation; or
- DVD's, CD-ROM and Video (restricted to maximum5 minutes viewing time/ presentation) are acceptable for artists utilising new media and/or installations; or
- Writers and curators, a maximum of 12 A4 pages.
Please note that your application documentation and any supporting material will be destroyed unless you request return of these documents and provide a self-addressed stamped envelope.
Assessment
Applications will be assessed on the following Criteria:
- Applicant has to be a UTAS Visual Arts graduate;
- Creative, innovative and professional excellence of the project and its outcomes;
- Relevance of the project to the artist’s professional development;
- The project’s potential to invigorate Tasmanian arts locally, nationally or internationally;
- Priority will be given to applicants who have not had a residency in the last 3 years;
- Preference will be given toUTAS Visual Arts Graduates who currently reside in Tasmania.
Self-funded Residencies
The residencies are offered on a Self- fundedbasis from January 2015 (for a 2 to6 month period) to use the Studio paying all associated costs yourself.
- The Cité Service Fees are approximately 450€ per month for one person and 565€ for two, to be paid directly to the Cité management; plus a University of Tasmaniaadministration fee of 20% of the Cité Service Fees per month payable to TCotAbefore departure.
- Please note that the Marie Edwards Travelling Scholarship is also available to students who are currently undertaking postgraduate study, or who have graduated within the last three years, in visual arts, craft and design at the University of Tasmania, to be used to assist Self-funded Residencies.
