End-User Guide

AVG Email Archive is a managed email archiving service that operates in conjunction with your existing IT network to ensure the protection, preservation and continuous operation of email communication for your business, while providing on-demand email access for users anywhere and anytime.

This document describes how to use AVG Email Archive to search for email, send/receive email as well as recover single emails from the Archive and is designed for the end-user.

AVG Email Archive can be accessed by going to https://archive.avgcloud.net and using your anti-spam username and password. If you do not have one or do not know what it is, please contact your IT Service Provider.

Upon logging into the AVG Email Archive portal, you will see a dashboard:

From the dashboard, you are able to navigate directly to:

a)  Power Search – This will allow users to search their own personal email archive. Results from the search can be recovered to the inbox; however, nothing in the archive can be deleted.

b)  Email Recovery – Users will be able to recover email based on date, for instance, can restore lost email from the prior 24 hours.

c)  Inbox – This will show users their active inbox and allow users to send/receive email

d)  Contacts – The archive of email contacts will be accessible through this link.

e)  Packages – The concept of packages allows users to select several emails (tens or thousands), put those into a package, and download those messages as a ZIP file. This also allows the ability to download emails directly to the inbox by following the onscreen instructions to configure a POP3 account, or contact your IT Service Provider for further instructions.

POWER SEARCH

The power search function of AVG Email Archive is incredibly powerful and will provide users the ability to search for email, or attachments, the “To” and “From” email address or domain, and within a specific timeframe. Users are also allowed to search the Email Fields of an Email, including the Message Body, Subject and the option to display all emails, or only emails that contain attachments.

If the user is search for an attachment, simply drop down the “Search Type” to select attachments, and within the “Attachment Fields” enter the search criteria for words/phrases within the “File Content”, the “File Name” and which attachments you’d like to search. If you would like to search all Attachment Types, simply leave all Files Types unchecked.

A search of the entire users archive will be performed in a matter of seconds, and the results will allow users to select messages to package for future recovery, download a message directly to a user’s inbox, or recover in other formats.

RECOVERY

When a user selects an email from the results of a search or from within their inbox, they will be displayed with a list of Recovery options, or the ability to find email through DeepLink™ technology. A simple click of “Recover to Inbox” will download the email directly to the user’s inbox.

“View Conversation” will allow users to see the messages they sent along with the messages they’ve received from emails within a particular thread.

“Related Messages” will scan the archive to look for all messages that have similar keywords within the subject and body, similar email addresses or domains, and several other criteria, and present the user with these emails based on score.

SEND/RECEIVE FROM INBOX

AVG Email Archive contains the ability for a user to send and receive email in the case of a power, internet or mail server outage. Upon clicking on “Inbox” from the Start page, users will see the ability to compose “New Message”, or browse to their Sent Items or Drafts.

Upon clicking “New Message”, the user will have the ability to compose a new email message, attach documents and also just start typing the recipients name and since AVG Email Archive archives contacts, the recipients email address will automatically appear.
