Job Profile:Pre-School Qualified Assistant (level 2/3)

Start date: 4th September 2017
Hours:19.25hrs per week, Term time only
Monday 8.00am – 4.00pm
Tuesday 8.00am – 4.00pm
Wednesday 8.00am-12.15pm
Evening meetings attendance (once termly, paid as overtime)
Ability to provide extra cover would be an advantage
Key Tasks:
- Work with children following the EYFS and Statutory Framework for the Early
Years Foundation Stage. - Team work
- Liaise with Parents/carers
- Excellent understanding of Safeguarding
- Offering diversity and equality
Main Duties:
- Assist with the planning of the curriculum and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in conjunction with the EYFS standards and other staff.
- Assist with the daily preparations before each session and aid the clearing of activities at the end of sessions.
- Act as key person to a group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
- To advise the Supervisor of any concerns e.g. Over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentially as necessary.
- Support all staff and engage with the team.
- Attend staff meetings including planning meetings
- Attend in-service training courses and other meetings as required.
- Assess and keep a written of record of achievements on file on children, for parents/carers;
- Work with parents/carers of special needs children to give full integration in the Setting;
- To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.;
- Recording accidents in the accident book
- Look upon the Setting as a “whole” where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children;
- To respect the confidentiality of any information received;
- Specific Child Care Tasks:
- The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;
- To ensure that snack times are a time of pleasant social sharing;
- Washing and changing children as required;
- Providing comfort to an ill child;
- To ensure the Setting of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.

- To be aware of the high profile of the Setting and to uphold its standards at all times.
