Regular Meeting
April 17, 2008
Chairman Wooldridge called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act.
Roll: Present: Chairman Phil Wooldridge, Beverly Gloumakoff, Eckhardt Debbert, Shannon Buckley, Doug Hankin, Bill VonderHaar, second alternate Karen Cook Absent: Vice Chair Tom Webster (excused), first alternate Frank Joseph (excused)
Cool Cities presentation- Stefano Crema, Sierra Club
Mr. Crema gave a presentation on the program to encourage municipalities to reduce energy use. An information packet was left with the Chair.
Lynne Rutowski- The tree planting with the scouts will take place- Sunday May 4 at 1PM. Thirty-one trees were granted by the NJ Tree Foundation. The recycling bin grant application was submitted, 6-10 bins were requested. 1,640 telephone books were collected for recycling at the school.
Public Comment: None
Approval of Minutes: Mr. Hankin made a motion to approve the minutes of February 21, 2008, seconded by Mr. Debbert, all in favor with Ms. Gloumakoff abstaining.
Communications:
NJ DEP Bureau of Freshwater and Biological Monitoring- will be conducting in lake samples for routine nutrients, algal indicators, and in-situ physical/chemical measurements. Ms. Greason sent a copy of the bathymetric map on their request.
Old Business:
Natural Gardening Evening recap- The event was successful once again, and had a good turnout. Three cases of DotPots still remain, and the MLCA can distribute them for Community Day.
Draft flyer concerning mosquito adulticide notification: Chairman Wooldridge presented a draft flyer concerning notification of mosquito adulticiding by the Warren County Mosquito Extermination Commission, and a draft letter to be sent to the Township Committee requesting the flyers be included in the tax bills. After discussion Chairman Wooldridge made a motion the letter be sent as corrected, seconded by Mr. Hankin, all in favor.
New Business: None
Commissioner reports/Meetings attended:
Land Use Board: Ms. Gloumakoff reported the Lodge property subdivision was approved. A variance for a pigeon loft was deemed incomplete.
MLCA & WAG: Ms Greason reported that Mr. Joseph has requested suggestions for the annual meeting August 8. Suggestions included Stephano Crema and his Cool Cities presentation, and Liz Jackson on bears.
Other: Mr. Debbert will be attending the PSE&G Green Day at Liberty Science Center.
Expenditures:
ESRI- GIS software maintenance fee
Secretarial fee
Ms. Gloumakoff made a motion to approve payment of both bills, seconded by Ms. Buckley, all in favor.
Commissioner and Public Comments: None
Ditty Bag disbursement: Tabled until next month when bags will be filled.
