Optimise your welding processes with ABB’s SpotPack Basic
2008-03-10 - ABB has launched SpotPack Basic, a ready to use fully configured robot package, suitable for pneumatic or servo guns for spot welding. The add-on dress pack package combines the best hardware, software and electrical modules available for high quality performance and optimum production in spot welding applications.
Available for use with all versions of ABB’s IRB6620, 6640 and 6650S series power robots, SpotPack Basic can be easily configured, ensuring easy installation and quick system functionality. Even maintenance work is simplified due to less spare parts and easier access to the dress pack, which is assembled, mounted and tested before delivery.
Ideal for manufacturers with a limited need for flexibility to handle product changes, SpotPack Basic eliminates the need for users to carry out further engineering work on their robots to start welding. Many of the package’s features have been simplified for easier use on the plant floor, such as easily adjustable cable and hose lengths which can be adapted to suit different requirements. Other features include the spot welding cabinet and the water and air unit, which have been revised to support AC welding applications with the Bosch Weldtimer.
To further simplify spot welding, the ABB software application RobotWare Spot is now available for the SpotPack Basic package. RobotWare Spot’s welding options provide universal and flexible software platforms for easy creation of customized, high performance function packages for different kinds of spot welding systems. RobotWare Spot enables sequential spot welding with pneumatic single gunswith AC.
The package also includes ABB’s handheld FlexPendant interface device, which uses the Bosch Weldtimer interface to provide users with an integrated, modular platform for spot welding applications. By incorporating the Bosch Weldtimer, the FlexPendant enables operators to program the required processes without the need for a separate programming device. This gives operators complete control on the shop floor as well as providing full access to both diagnosis and installation information.
By purchasing a complete system comprised of SpotPack Basic and an ABB power robot, manufacturers will get the production commissioned and running in a very short time. With guaranteed fast and accurate spare part deliveries, the SpotPack Basic is ideal for manufacturers looking for a simple and safe spot welding process for long-term optimum production.
