HMO/PGY 2 Medical – 2010
Thank you for your interest in applying for a position as a Medical HMO/PGY 2 at Austin Health (AH) and Northern Health (NH). This joint appointment and rostering programme offers you a wide selection of rotations across a major teaching hospital, a large community hospital and associated rural and specialist hospitals.
HMO2 Medical positions include a variety of accredited general and specialty medical rotations, as well as ICU, Emergency Medicine and Night duty. A list of rotations available to all HMO/PGY2 applicants is attached. Candidates who have completed this year have successfully undertaken training in the following areas: critical care, anaesthetics, physician training (general and speciality), ophthalmology, radiology, nuclear medicine, etc. Acceptance into a training program is not a pre-requisite for successful application to this stream.

Interviews
For this program applicants must arrange an interview time as part of the online application process. Interviews may only be booked via Choice regarding the venue of your interview is predetermined through the website; you cannot select Austin Health or Northern Health to attend for interview, but will be advised of the venue by an automated email from the Austin doctors website. These interviews will assist us in compiling our priority list for the Computer Match.
Computer Match
All positions will be filled via the Computer Matching Service conducted by the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) (03) 9419 1248.
All applicants will need to apply to BOTH the hospital and the PMCV to be eligible.
NB: Applicants need to meet PMCV eligibility criteria to apply to the hospital.
References
References for PGY2 positions in 2009 are to be lodged online with the PMCV. Referee nominations are due by Friday 14th August 2009. Please refer to the PMCV computer matching website for further information
Rosters
Appointees will get an opportunity to indicate their roster preferences. Consideration will be made for special requests eg. Annual leave to accommodate wedding plans, to coincide with spouse leave etc, however no guarantee can be given regarding accommodating requests at short notice.
