Mid-State Minutes

A scheduled meeting was held during the break at the Lorance show. All board officers were present and all clubs had representation.

* A motion was made to leave $500 in the general fund account to begin the 2012 show year. Motion failed due to lack of second. A motion was made to leave $1000 in the general fund account to begin the 2012 show year. Motion was seconded, passed.

* A motion was made to let Christi Ingle have her two T-shirts without charge as a way of saying “Thank you” for the time she spent drawing our T-shirt design. The cost to Mid-State would be $15. Motion was seconded, passed unanimously.

* The state association has asked again to use the Mid-State read out board at the state show. They have been using our board since the early 90’s and have repaired any damage done while the board is in their possession. A couple of other associations have offered to bring theirs. A motion was made and seconded to allow the use of our read out board at the state show. Motion passed unanimously.

* SCRC asked if Mid-State would allow them to use the read out board at their feed show on Aug. 20. Motion was made and seconded to allow SCRC use of the read out board. Motion passed unanimously. They will be responsible for getting the board to the state show.

The following two items need to be voted on at the Aug. club meetings.

1. Year End Awards – Several options were presented and discussed and the following two suggestions were made into motions to be voted on by the clubs.

A) A motion was made that the basic black nylon halter from Custom Tack be given as awards with a cash option being offered to those receiving multiple awards. The cash option is only offered after taking one halter. The lettering will be the same for all halters, MSHSA, Top 5 and 2011 being stamped across the nose and on the sides. Motion seconded & passed unanimously.

B) A motion was made to give a cash payout in equal amounts for each award. The amount will be determined after the show season ends so we have an accurate bank account balance. Motion seconded, passed unanimously. Based on forecasted funds from the last two shows, the approximate payout will be $30.

1. It was suggested to have an informal social eating, gathering area at the state show on Thursday night, Sept. 2. Some of the other associations do this and grill steaks or other items. It was suggested that Mid-state offer BBQ to it’s members & guests with the clubs providing the other items such as drinks, chips, baked beans, slaw, desserts and buns. The cost to Mid-State and the clubs would be around $50 eachbut probably less. Mid-state will provide the BBQ, plates & utensils. This will be a come and go type gathering as people have designated riding times and other possible obligations. Please discuss this with your clubs to see if there is any interest. Each club will need to give me a person’s name and phone number for me to coordinate this event.

Please contact DeLaina Harris or myself with your club’s award choice and decision on the Thursday night gathering at the state show. We will need to know ASAP in regards to the award choice so I’ll know if I need to order forms at the last show.
