REMINDERS ….Teachers: on day of the trip
- Check students have appropriate footwear & do not let them on bus if not (prepare alternate supervision for them in case this happens)
- give students name tags & take attendance as they step on bus
- bring 1st aid kit, student insurance/permission forms & contact info on trip
- give Mākua staff update of changes of adults/students entering Mākua
All Mākua, UH, Alu Like, & NHIS staff
- if you can, please bring extra pens, pencils, sunscreen, garbage bag
- also wear appropriate footwear, rainwear, hat & don’t forget food & water!
UH & AL Staff:
- Chaperones – remember to keep your students within 25 feet of you at all times & remind them to listen carefully to Mākua staff.
- UH staff – please take own car to meet classes at Mākua at 8:45 & bring cell phone if you have one, & all video equipment (Sue & Holly)
- Alu Like staff – please join teachers at 8:00am at NHIS to chaperone on bus

FROM NHIS to MĀKUA! 8:00-8:45
- 8:00 – meet by the bus in front of the main office in your group for attendance; get name tag as you step onboard (wear this all morning!)
- 8:15 – bus leaves for Mākua (remember safety & manners for bus)
WELCOME to MĀKUA! 8:45-9:00
- 8:45 – bus arrives, groups meet chaperones, gather for Oli Kahea (blessing)
followed by Welcome & Talk on Role of Military by Mākua safety staff
- 9:00 –students get Study Packet then groups A & B go to …
* Area 1 (Upper Roadside Sites) – Archeology, Water Source &
Outplanting Activities
while groups C & D go to …
