GATEWAY SUBARU SELECTS CHESAPEAKE BAY TRUST AS LOCAL CHARITABLE PARTNER FOR THE SUBARU “SHARE THE LOVE” EVENT

Gateway Subaru customers will be able to support Chesapeake Bay Trust in addition to ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, National Park Foundation and Teach for America

DELMAR, MARYLAND, November 25, 2013 – Gateway Subaru has selected the Chesapeake Bay Trust as an additional community partner for the upcoming Subaru “Share the Love” event. During the sixth annual “Share the Love” event, Subaru of America, Inc. will donate up to $10 million to charitable partners.

From Nov. 21, 2013 to Jan.2, 2014, Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of the following charities:ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, National Park Foundation and Teach for America. In addition to the five national organizations, Annapolis Subaru customers will also be able to elect Chesapeake Bay Trust to receive the $250 donation.

Pat Wergin, Vice President of Gateway Subaru indicated, “We selected the Chesapeake Bay Trust as our local beneficiary because they enable citizen stewards to get involved with restoring and protecting the Chesapeake Bay at the grassroots level through their grant-making and projects. The Trust is a good steward of the Bay with a measurable impact, as well as a fiscally responsible steward of the funding received and granted through their programs.”

In 2012, Subaru donated $5 million to “Share the Love” charities and over the course of the five year program Subaru has donated a total of $25 million. The sales growth experienced by Subaru of America in recent years means that by continuing to donate $250 per vehicle sold during the program, total charitable contributions will likewise increase, this year to $10 million.

“We are excited to be able to share more love with more charities – including the charities in our owners’ backyards,” said Subaru chief marketing officer Dean Evans. “By the end of this year, Subaru will have donated $35 million to diverse and worthy causes.”

“At Chesapeake Bay Trust, we fund on-the-ground restoration projects and programs that benefit our local communities and the Chesapeake Bay,” said Molly Alton Mullins, director of communications for the Chesapeake Bay Trust. “We are honored to have been selected as the local partner for Subaru Gateway and their Share the Love Campaign and I hope that customers will support our efforts when they purchase or lease their new Subaru.”
