A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Bill Bartleman upon his induction into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.

WHEREAS, Bill Bartleman was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He moved to Kentucky in 1969 and graduated from Murray State University in 1971. Soon after his graduation, he became the political reporter for The Paducah Sun and quickly distinguished himself as a talented journalist with a keen eye for the human angle of state government; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bartleman reported on every session of the Kentucky General Assembly from 1974, until his retirement in 2010. He has also worked in academia as a professor at Murray State University and Mid-Continent University; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bartleman was a staple in the political and news community of Kentucky for more than 35 years. He was a regular panelist for such organizations as the Kentucky Medical Association, the Kentucky Labor and Management Conference, the West Kentucky Press Association, the Kentucky School Boards Association, and the Kentucky Intercollegiate Press Association. A regular guest on KET's Comment on Kentucky, he became a noted and respected voice in politics and state government, and in 2004 was invited to accompany United States Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bartleman's shining achievement in the field of journalism will occur on April 5, 2011, when he will be inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame. This Honorable Body commends him for this prestigious honor, for his years of courageous reporting, and for his dedication to the community of Paducah and to the vaunted newspaper that will always bear the stamp of his legacy;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate thanks Bill Bartleman for his years of service in the Kentucky journalism community as a reporter for The Paducah Sun, and congratulates him for his induction into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Bill Bartleman.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Bob Leeper for delivery.
