Festival of Trees
Festival of Trees Decorator Guidelines 2009
Please join us for this very merry fundraiser for the Tread of Pioneers Museum! Your creative talents, distinctive decorating styles, and ornaments will make a 7-foot, artificial, Colorado spruce tree, the magic of this event. Your name will be prominently displayed on a sign on your tree for the duration of the Festival at the Museum (until November 23rd). The sign will travel with the tree for display at the final site selected by the sponsor.
1. The Museum will provide you with:
A pre-lit tree
The tree stand, skirt and wire to attach your ornaments
Reimbursement for decorating materials up to $100.00. For accounting purposes, please submit expenses to the Museum no later than Dec. 31, 2009. Please tape the receipts to a sheet of paper, and run a total on your expenses. Please include your name, address, phone number, and the decorator group that you represent. You can fax the receipts to 879-6109 or mail to P.O. Box 772372 Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.
- Decorating Days: We are asking all decorators to trim their trees on site, at the Museum. For convenience, we will be open for decorating on: Wednesday, November 11th from 1:00 to 7:00pm, and Thursday, November 12th from 10:00am to 7:00pm. Public viewing of the trees will begin on Saturday, November 14th from 11:00am to 5:00pm and run ten days until Nov. 23rd.
2. Decoration Guidelines:
v Do be creative and have fun.
v Please avoid flammable materials.
v Please WIRE all items to the tree (the tree will travel in a bumpy truck to the sponsor’s delivery site).
v Please do not add additional lights (our circuits can’t support it).
v Please do not use any fresh fruit, perishables (including candy), liquids or sprays of any kind; the decorations should last at least 6 weeks.
v Please ensure that your tree is fully decorated so that it will be desirable to a sponsor.
v Please no origami.
v Recommendations: A unique “tree topper” defines your tree (not too heavy); garlands are a great finishing touch; and lots of ornaments will make your tree look full.
3. We hope that you participate by decorating a tree this year. This event gives you an opportunity to be involved in a worthwhile charitable event which demonstrates your commitment to preserving the heritage of our community. It also brings community recognition to your group’s mission, product or services. We also know you will have lots of fun!
Thank you for your participation!
