The GreatGatsby creative motif tracking project
Due date: (in class and to turnitin) – MONDAY, November 28th
The wait is over! Here’s what you need to do.
You will turn in SIX motifs you have been tracking in the book on FRIDAY, November 11th. On Monday you’ll get your list back with your assigned motif. If you do not turn in your list on Friday, you’ll have a motif randomly assigned to you.
Once you get your assigned motif think of a creative way to display/depict/envision/show it visually. Then, address the following in a TYPED essay (this will be turned in to turnitin).
- By way of introduction give a paragraph explaining the importance of the motif within the book. (10)
- In about a paragraph each, address the two most important examples of your motif and offer some justification of why these two are the most important examples. (10)
- Explain what you’ve done for your creative representation – why did you pick the colors/patterns/shapes/pictures you selected. What is the significance of what you’ve done? It could be argued that this is the most important part of what you’re doing – explain the visual to the best of your ability. (10)
- Actual display (10) ** there should be NO pictures from ANY version of The Great Gatsby films or plays or book covers – I want to see YOUR ideas – not the ideas of someone else.
- Presentation of project (10)
