Post : Programme Manager

Location : HMP Swaleside

Purpose and Objectives: To manage all aspects of the ‘Challenge to Change’ programme within the prison. To support the work of the Kainos Community by effectively liaising with groups both inside and outside the prison. To undertaking such organisational, financial, personnel tasks and project work which may be delegated by the Regional Manager or Operations Director. At all times working within the guidelines established by the Kainos Community with the prison authorities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  To be responsible on a daily basis for the smooth running of the Kainos Community Programme and activities.

2.  To manage Kainos Staff and volunteers within HMP Swaleside

3.  To familiarise him or herself with all national rules which apply to the Prison Service including HMP Swaleside and any instructions which relate to the Kainos Community.

4.  To ensure effective welfare and care of all resident participants of the project including any agreed counselling both on a one to one basis and group work.

5.  To have lead responsibility in selection of offenders for the Programme

6.  To ensure that delivery of the Interventions are delivered in compliance with the ‘Challenge to Change’ Programme Manuals

7.  To maintain close contact and reporting with the Governor and others in the Prison’s Senior Management Team

8.  To have daily liaison and regular meetings with Prison Wing staff.

9.  To be responsible for the training and Management of all volunteers working on the Programme.

10.  To manage and deliver the Mentor Programme.

11.  To ensure that all ‘community activities’ with offenders are effectively managed.

12.  Oversee the organisation and preparation of materials for the course programme

13.  Liaison with relevant outside organizations including attendance at meetings outside the prison

14.  To ensure the maintenance of an effective monitoring and reporting system for all programme participants.

15.  To undertake such other duties that may reasonably be expected by the Regional Manager/Operations Director

Physical Conditions : To be based at HMP Swaleside

Remuneration : £25,000

Hours of Work: The normal working hours will be 40 hours per week . Some flexibility will be required to meet the needs of this post.

Holiday Entitlement : 33 days inclusive of Bank Holidays

Sick Pay: The Charity operates its own sick leave scheme which overlaps with the SSP scheme

Pension: Stakeholder Scheme to be provided

Probationary Period: Appointment is made subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.

1.  Previous experience of managing staff at a senior level Essential

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
