Table S1. Detailed list of how each SLC is classified according to the various systems

There are 429 unique secondary active transporter sequences, of which 30 are newly identified (listed in red at the end of the table). Proteins that were detected when searched for MFS and APC proteinsusing Pfam hidden Markov modelsare listed in the first column, together with the specific accession numbers (Ensemble version 84 [1]). The following columns represent information about human sequences, collected from the classification systems discussed in the main article: HGNC [2], SLC tables [3], Phylogenetic analyses [4, 5], Atypical SLCs [6, 7], TCDB [8] and Pfam [9]. There are additional 26 known SLC pseudogenes, which are not included. Colours represent the ones used in figure 1.
