Thank you, students and parents for participating in our Fall NWEA test. This adaptive test compares your performance against thousands of other students your grade level all over the country. We use this data to help determine what areas you need to focus on this term. For those students who are performing on the lower end of their grade level, we have a great support opportunity to help you grow even faster! The key is to use this tool correctly.
Follow the instructions below and pay particular attention to the hints (follow the green). Let’s get started!
Student NWEA RIT Score Prescriptions on Study Island
The data from your test has been downloaded into Study Island and a map has been created for you within that program based on your individual areas of need. This is how it looks when students log into Study Island and how they work on their NWEA Prescriptions

Step 2: Students sign in using their credentials (Username: FirstnameStudent#... for example: Peter12345 andPassword: student(unless you have changed your password).

Step 6: Select “Practice Mode” or “Game Mode” and click “Next”:
Step 7: The assignment begins. Students will complete all skills in their prescriptions and grow exponentially.
Valley View Charter Prep RTI Program
All Valley View Charter Prep students have access to Study Island and all who took NWEA have a Map Learning Path to measure growth and practice for next test. Students performing on the lower end of their grade level (31stpercentile and below) are assigned to monitored support. These students will be offered a laptop to facilitate the use of Study Island and our intervention specialist will monitor progress by collecting data from Study Island, reporting to parents and students and offering extra help to accelerate the student’s growth. Students assigned are asked to complete 1 10-question assessment in a single topic each weekon Study Island practicing their new skills and testing strategies so that we can compile that data. Your teacher will direct you to the topics to work on firstto ensure most effective process.
As parents/teachers, you can choose a different method to instruct the student on the skill he/she is struggling with, but Study Island offers step-by-step lessons on each skill and videos on many of those skills, too. Let’s see how it works.
1st line lesson: At the end of the session or before attempting a session, students can choose the lesson which includes both explanation and examples or flash cards and may offer a video lesson.
All technology has glitches, so we appreciate your patience and feedback.
Thank you for participating in our support program. We are all here to assist your efforts to maximize your student’s growth. If you have any questions, I would be pleased to help. I look forward to working with you this year.
