Highly Functioning Team Assessment Tool
Directions: The Highly Functioning Team Assessment Tool is a behaviorally anchored rating instrument. For each highly functioning team criteria, the ratings 1, 3, and 5 have a behavior description attached to them. Anchoring a behavior to three of the ratings allows more consistency among the ratings.
The instrument shows how individuals perceive the team is functioning in the 12 areas. Differences in ratings are neither right nor wrong; instead, they provide an opportunity for the team to discuss differences in team functioning perceptions.
Individually rate how you perceive the team is functioning in each area, using the descriptions associated with ratings 1, 3, and 5 as a guide. For example, if you understand team goals and some of the links to organization strategy, then you perceive yourself as better than a 3, Òunderstand team goals,Ó but not quite up to a 5, Òunderstand link between team goals and organization strategy.Ó Therefore, you would rate Team Goals as 4.
