ATTENTION: PARENTS OF THE CLASS OF 2009

BACCALAUREATE AND COMMENCEMENT 2009

The Roanoke College Baccalaureate is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2009, at 4:30 p.m., in Bast Gym. You and your family and guests are invited to participate with you in this important Roanoke College event with Rev. R. Paul Henrickson as our speaker. All other departmental receptions for your graduates will be scheduled prior to 3:30 p.m. or after 6:00 p.m. and will be held on campus.

Commencement Day is Saturday, May 2, 2009. Commencementis scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on the John R. Turbyfill Quadrangle (Front Lawn). In case of severe inclement weather (i.e., lightning, thunderstorms, or severe rain), Commencement will be held in the Homer C. Bast Gymnasium.

We invite you and your family and guests to join the RC community for a Continental Breakfast on May 2, at 8:30 a.m., on the Back Quad and encourage you to attend the Celebration Luncheon immediately following Commencement.

You will be receiving information regarding procedures and details for all these events. You may also find information on Baccalaureate and Commencement 2009 on the Roanoke College website at

We hope that parents and guests will plan to arrive on campus early on Friday in order to participate in all the activities surrounding Baccalaureate and Commencement. Parents are strongly encouraged to make lodging arrangements as quickly as possible. Other events in the Roanoke Valley during Commencement weekend may limit lodging facilities. Please note that you may invite as many family/guests as you would like. However, in case of severe inclement weather, each guest will be required to have a rain pass to enter Bast Gym for Commencement. Students may request up to 4 rain passes when they pick up their cap and gown in the Bookstore. If you have a need for oneadditional rain pass, your student should complete the request form found at at any time during the upcoming months. Should there be extra rain passes available, they will be distributed on a first request basis.
