Coos County Registry of Deeds
Lancaster, NH
Coos County Tax Collectors Present: Debbie Hayes, Pamela Kathan, Melanie Mathieu, Becky Merrow, Erica Hibbard, Carol Porter, Charity Blanchette, Helene Dionne, Rita Hibbard, Kara Sweatt, Linda Harris, Patty Chase Cindy Woodward, and Melinda Kennett (recorder).
Registry Hosts Present: Sally Pelletier and Tonya Batcheldor
Charity Blanchette opened the meeting at 10:15 A.M.
Sally Pelletier gave a description of the book room and what their method of filing entailed. The Registry provided and informational packet for each present which included Property Tax Fill In Forms informational sheet, Correction to Credit Report sheet, Registry Fee Schedule, Uniform Standards, Tax Lien requirements, and a Redemption report. Sally explained how their procedures are and asked that Tax Collectors do not send anything that is two-sided or hand written. Sally also pointed out that on names, numbers are better spelled out. For example: 400 is spelled out as Four Hundred on properties. Mrs. Pelletier said that 1983 and newer mobile homes are no longer allowed to have a Bill of Sale only. She said that this transaction needs to be transferred by a Deed. Sally went over options with a widow concerning the death of the spouse. She said that it's best to have a death certificate and have it recorded to make it easier down the road. Sally said it was fine to take the other name off of the tax bill as long as we keep a copy of the death certificate, but to get a new deed to add someone else or take one off a deed they should get an attorney to help protect themselves or an aging parent. Sally Pelletier also said that abbreviated names make the workers at the Registry life miserable. She said that the first 3 letters are the most important and the surname should be whole and the next name whole. Sally said abbreviate “Revocable Trust” not the name in that case. There was more discussion of mobile homes and how towns handle deeding of the mobile homes in parks.
The meeting was adjourned by Charity Blanchette at 11:30 A.M.
Lunch for those who could attend was at J.L. Sullivan from noon-1:30 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Melinda Kennett, Recorder
