JOS – May 14, 15, 2005– Waycross-Ware Co. Airport, Waycross, Ga.
6000’ x 150’ smooth REPAVED extended runway. No tree line! JOS has been given exclusive use of the MAIN runway directly in front of the airport terminal. A variety of quality lodging, food and camping. Easy access from I-75, I-95, US 1, US 84 and US 82. 4 hours from the Orlando or Atlanta areas. $30 landing fee. Preregistration is very helpful. Turbines and ducted fans only. Turbines must have AMA waiver. No prop jets. Camping on site but no hookups. {Motor homes and tents will not be allowed closer than 20 feet from the apron as it is a moderately active airport and although we have been given exclusive use of the main runway there could possibly be a corporate jet needing the main.} We have many hotels (Holiday Inn, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, etc. as well as many restaurants and shopping that will suit the tastes of most anyone just 10 plus minutes from the flying site! I have never stayed in any of these places but they are all within a bout a half mile of each other at the intersection of US1 and US82 (Jacksonville, Brunswick highway intersection at the Holiday Inn). I believe they are all clean and liveable. Also in that general area are any of the major fast food restaurants as well as many of the national chain restaurants. There is also a Winn Dixie and Kroger in that same area as well as a Walmart Super Center and our Mall.
