A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Charles E. Hudson.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Charles E. Hudson, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Charles E. Hudson was born on July 9, 1936, a native of Owen County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Grant County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on August 17, 2000; and

WHEREAS, Charles E. Hudson was the loving son of Corinne Dempsey Hudson and the late Alfred Charles Hudson; he was the devoted husband of forty-five years to Helen Catlett Hudson; he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlen Hudson; he was the loving father of two surviving daughters, Rhonda Schlueter and Rekenna Hopperton, both of Dry Ridge; and a son, Henry Charles "Chuck" Hudson, of Williamstown; and he was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Charles E. Hudson was an esteemed member of the Grant County community; he was employed by the Kentucky State Police for fifteen years as a radio dispatcher in Madisonville, Frankfort, and Dry Ridge; he retired August 1, 1997, as Grant County Sheriff, after serving for twelve years; he served on the board of directors for the Kentucky Sheriffs' Association, and he was the first sheriff in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to succeed himself; and

WHEREAS, in April, 2000, Charles E. Hudson was named Grant Countian of the Year by the Grant County Chamber of Commerce; he was the founder of the Grant County Saddle Club; he was past president of the Grant County Fair Board, and past member of the Grant County Park Board, Grant County Extension Board, and Grant County Hospital Board; and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge for twenty-seven years; and

WHEREAS, Charles E. Hudson was a devout member of Knoxville Baptist Church where he served as deacon, and he served as past deacon of the Lawrenceville Baptist Church; he served his country with distinction in the Kentucky Air National Guard, and he was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Charles E. Hudson has left a void that will be difficult to fill, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Charles E. Hudson, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Charles E. Hudson.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Helen Catlett Hudson, 345 Highway 36E, Williamstown, Kentucky 41097.
