Communication:

Communication is primarily done through the email distribution list and text messaging. Please be sure that we have your most current email address and that you are registered with celly by completing the following instructions:

  • The High School has asked us to use a more secure form of texting communication with our teams. We are going to be texting through Celly. If you would like to check out their website, go to cel.ly. I have already set up an account and invited the girls whose numbers I have and one person has accepted. I encourage all girls and their parents to register by texting @BHSGymnastics to 23559. By registering, both parents and gymnasts will get my messages.

Try-Outs

2012-2013

Dear Parents and Gymnasts,

The coaching staff has decided that we would like to take the team to the next level and make Brunswick an even more competitive program. There will be some changes made for next year that will hopefully help the team as well as individuals be even more successful than they were on the high school team in the past.

Listed below are skills that we will be looking for the high school gymnasts to have. I would like to use this as a guideline for what the gymnasts should be working on at their gyms over the summer to be ready for try-outs in the fall. This will also let the middle school gymnasts know what we are looking for at the high school level. The skills are based on the requirements for high school routines set by OHSAA.

We will hold try-outs in November at Buckeye Activity Center. There will be week open gyms offered after school prior to try-outs so that gymnasts from different gyms can get acclimated to the equipment. Holding try-outs has been a difficult decision that we have been discussing the pros and cons about and we believe it will be in the best interest for the team and individuals. We feel it necessary to have a more manageable number as well as a similar level of ability.

The following skills listed on the next page will be used to rank the gymnasts. There is not a certain number of gymnasts we are taking; we are taking gymnasts that have the skills to compete at the high school level and contribute their talents to the team. This also does not eliminate anyone if they only compete on one event. I hope that these guidelines motivate the girls to continue to work out during the off-season as well as give them some goals to work on over the summer.

Thank you,

Michelle Miller
