Library News
Parkview will be hosting a spring book fair, offering BOGO (buy one, get one) on your purchases. The book fair will be held Wednesday, May 4 thru Friday, May 6th. You are welcome to stop by after school on Wednesday and Friday of that week to shop with your child and take advantage of BOGO before summer break! Choose some great books for summer reading to keep your child’s reading abilities fresh during the busy summer months! Times for those 2 days are listed to the left in upcoming events.
School News
Thank you to everyone who donated shoes for the Shoeman Water Project! What a great response from all of you!!!! Between Parkview and Eagleview, we collected 1,134 pounds of shoes! WOW!!! Our class watched a video about this project this afternoon so the children could understand how their donated shoes can help others! Please take a moment to ask your child about it.
Classroom News
Our classroom musical will be Tuesday evening here at Eagleview gym! The kids were very excited to share this morning that they have earned their last star in music class signifying they know all of their parts and songs! I can’t wait to see all of them perform!!!!! Be sure to bring grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone else the kids would like to watch them! See you there! J
Book-It
I had 9 students ‘Read their Heart Out’ this year for book-it! These nine children read all six months for our reading challenge! I would like to shout out special congratulations to Lainey, Theo, Kendall, Elyse, Eve, Luke, Lola, Claire, Kennadie!!! WAY TO GO!!! These students will enjoy a special picnic lunch and treat with me on the patio when the temperature is a little warmer!
Spelling
~ New words ~ new, grew, drew, blue, true, glue, give, put, fixes, washes,
because, better, people, many, most.
*Be sure to practice these new words daily with your child!
Reading
~ Phonics ~ long u (ew, ue) i.e. grew, blue
~ plurals -es (buses, foxes)
~ y review (many, shy)
~ endings review (ng, nk), i.e. long, sank
~ Comprehension Skill ~ Cause/Effect
~ Grammar ~ Writing with Adjectives
Math
We will work with numbers to 120; including identifying numbers & number words, ordering, comparing, showing as hundreds, tens, ones as well as working with number patterns
Continue to review both addition and subtraction flash cards at home. These math facts should become automatic for children. They shouldn’t have to think about them.
