RUISLIP/NORTHWOOD FESTIVAL 2017 - DANCE SECTION AT HAREFIELD ACADEMY, NORTHWOOD WAY, HAREFIELD MIDDX UB9 6ET

NB As there are some very small sections this year unfortunately this has resulted in some quick changes for some competitors – we are aware of these and have taken this into account when preparing the order of dance. We have made every effort to put as many age sections as possible on the same day to cut down on competitors travelling time.

The dressing rooms open 1 hour before the start of each day’s programme.

WE HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY THE FESTIVAL

PLEASE NOTE:

No unauthorised Photography or Video recording is allowed at our Festivals

All classes will be held at Harefield Academy. A condition of the hire agreement with the Academy is that children must not be allowed to move around the site unsupervised. Apart from the canteen, dressing rooms and the auditorium all other parts of the Academy are out of bounds.

We would also ask everyone to ensure that there is no dancing in tap shoes anywhere in the dressing rooms, corridor or toilets as it badly marks the floors and carpets. In fact it may be a good idea to take away the temptation and only put tap shoes on when leaving the dressing rooms. In other words we would ask parents and teachers to ensure that everyone respects the premises.

Competitors should report to the announcer 15 minutes before the start of their class and be ready in the wings before their number is announced. It is essential that competitors observe the rule to be ready to dance in programme order.

Facilities for playing CDs, mini-discs, iPod or tapes are available and these should be handed in at the collection point at least 15 minutes before the start of the class. NB: CD recordings are not always reliable and, if used, it is essential to have a backup (preferably tape) for use in an emergency.

If music is on ipod then teacher/parent should operate the iPod i.e connect via Bluetooth to the festival music system and start music on iPod – volume will be set by festival music operator.

Winners of Senior Solo classes with 85 marks or over will be invited to enter the Ballethoo Challenge Trophy Class - there is no fee for this class. Where a section is split, the competitor with the highest mark from the two sections will go forward to the Ballethoo trophy competition. Competitors may not dance more than once in this class – no report sheets will be given. Should the number of eligible competitors be low, the committee may invite other dancers to participate.

Competitors for the Choreography section should produce a brief description of the dance, costumes, setting and type of lighting on the first day of the Festival or as soon as possible.
