Lesson Parts / Ideas/Best Practices
1. Developing the concepts of goods and services / PART ONE:
Build students background of goods and services
·  Discuss with students the differences between goods and services and why they are important to a community.
·  Read student resource on goods and services
·  Play PowerPoint Jeopardy game (included to CRC Infusion web page) with students on Good and Services
Helpful Hints
·  Divide students into groupings and have smaller groups play the game at once while other students are working on a different project so that students get more chances to select and answer questions.
2. Recognizing important services in the community / PART TWO:
Students will go on a walk of the town and take pictures of different services in the community and then put together an escrapbooking presentation on services in the community.
·  Discuss different services in the community that you live in. Have each student pick a special place in their community and as their homework for the week have their parents help them to learn about that service. Pose the following questions in their inquiry.
o  Where is this place located?
o  What kind of service does it provide?
o  What makes this place special?
o  Who are the people that work there?
o  How does this place help you?
·  If you can as a class go on a walking tour of your community and take pictures of the special places in the community that your students chose to learn about. If not take the pictures yourself or collect the pictures from online resources. Once each student has a picture, using any of the following mediums (paint, markers, crayons, clay, paper cutouts) have the students recreate a picture of their special place.
·  Using the information that the students have gathered, have them write up a 3-5 sentence description of their special place. Once their descriptions have been edited have students take turns typing their descriptions onto a word document.
·  Scan the original pictures and student created pictures onto the computer and using PowerPoint or Keynote create an escrapbooking presentation for your class. Pair the student drawn pictures with the digital pictures and copy and paste the students typing onto each of their individual pages.
