PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION
Job Title:*SeniorStrength and Conditioning Coach
Responsible to:Head of Strength & Conditioning
1.0QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Criteria
1.1*A degree (or equivalent 3rd level qualification) in sports science, coaching, sports studies or a sports related subject
1.2*Accredited/Certified member of the UKSCA or ASCA (level 2)or equivalent
Desirable Criteria
1.3 A post graduate qualification in Strength and Conditioning
1.4A current first aid or basic life support qualification from a recognisedorganisation
2.0PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Essential Criteria
2.1*A minimum of 3 Years full-time experience (or part-time equivalent) with a proven track record in the design and delivery of physicalpreparation programmes for athletesin international competition. This experienceshould represent a range of athlete performance levels, ages and sports.
2.2*A verifiable record of working within a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of services to high performance athletes and coaches
2.3A comprehensive understanding of the principles of periodisation of training schedules, incorporating all aspects of a strength and conditioning programme, including testing, which meets the sports specific requirements of an individual
2.4Excellent anatomical knowledge and the ability to apply this to an elite strength and conditioning setting
2.5Ability to teach and demonstrate Olympic lifts and a wide range of basicand advanced conditioning and weight training exercises
2.6Experience of and ability to modify programmes according to results ofassessment data in conjunction with coaches and other support staff
Desirable Criteria
2.7Advanced understanding of relevant equipment and technology, including its use and maintenance
2.8Have travelled with a team to major international competition at senior level(e.g. Olympic or Paralympic Games, World or European Championships orCommonwealth Games)
3.0JOB RELATED ACHIEVEMENTS
Essential Criteria
3.1An understanding of the needs of elite athletes and coaches in a high performance environment
3.2 An understanding of the practitioner role and models of physical preparation,sport science and sports medicine support appropriate to performance sport
3.3Ability to implement innovative ideas and influence athlete and coach programmes to ensure performance impact
3.4Sound organisational and planning skills with the ability to work underpressure, prioritising own workload
3.5Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
3.6 Proven integrity and appropriate working relationships with others combinedwith a strong anti-doping stance
Desirable Criteria
3.8Previous experience delivering strength and conditioning workshops
4.0OTHER FACTORS
Essential Criteria
4.1*A willingness to work irregular and unsocial hours as required, involving work outside normal office hours, at evenings, weekends and bank holidays
4.2*Access to a form of transport that will permit the post holder to meet the requirements of the post in full
4.3An understanding of individual responsibility in complying with the Health and Safety policies and arrangements of SINI
