A GREAT WEEKEND FOR RACING!

We had picture perfect weather for 2 days of auto crossing on the great Tire Rack test track in South Bend, Indiana. 22 drivers turned out for the first day, testing their driving skills on a track covered with pylons requiring expert handling. Luke Pavlick, our Tire Rack rep, set up the track and hosted us for both days…thanks, Luke!

A HUGE THANKS to the volunteers who came out to support the activity and work all day, both days…without this help the events couldn’t happen. Debbie Settle was our starter for every run and Dave Settle did an excellent job with timing. We couldn’t have done it without Jim Benton carrying all the club gear, helping set up the track and working every run in the field. Thanks to our Indiana friends, Rich and Mary Sigler as well. Cyndi Finstad was everywhere helping and the cheerleaders assisted with keeping the scoring straight (Donna Ahlgrim, Sharon Hinman and Jill Zimbric).

We were happy to see two father/son teams, Rick & Mike Craig and Stan & Brian Savage back this year as well as several NSCC members who auto crossed for the first time this weekend.

Luke Pavlick took FTD Sat, and Tony Koufos won Sun. Matt Hinman won Race; Shawn Folkes won C6/ZO6 on Sat. and Rich Finstad took 1st on Sun. In C5, Chris Jacobs was 1st Sat, and Steve Ahlgrim took the honors Sun. C4 saw Rick Craig win Sat. and Mike Craig win on Sun. Ladies was won by Lynda Jacobs on Sat. and Barb Harms on Sun. The Novice trophy went to Andrew Woloshyn Sat. and Anna Petras Sun…way to go!

The group enjoyed Benny’s Saturday night for dinner with good food, good drinks and lots of camaraderie! Then the party continued at the hotel with beer, cigars, and stories about the adventures on the track.

Sunday, 17 drivers got off to a bright and early start and we were on the road to home on open highways by mid-afternoon. It was a seamless weekend with lots of great Corvette driving and friendship…how can you top that?
