Sandra Lauffenburger Somatics, Effort/Shape, Self Psychology and Supervision: Foundations for Dance Movement Therapy”

Saturday 21 October 2017. 9.30 am – 5.30 pm

Community Room, Edinburgh Gardens, Brunswick St, Fitzroy North

The Dance Movement Therapy Association of Australasia (DTAA) is delighted to present a one day workshop with Sandra Lauffenburger ‘Somatics, Effort/Shape, Self Psychology and Supervision: The Underpinnings ofDance Movement Therapy’

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is a process in which the therapist intercepts (through sensing, feeling, observing), organizes and understands the client’s communications and needs in order to deliver effective interventions and appropriate psycho-emotional support.

In turn, supervision is a parallel process whereby the supervisor intercepts, organizes and understands the experience of the practicing therapist. This workshop will explore these three aspects of therapeutic practice and supervision: interception, organization, and contextual understanding through experientials and discussion of theoretical constructs drawn from somatics, LMA, and Self Psychology.
