STUDENT DRIVING GUIDELINES

(Parking Permit Application)

1. Parking on campus is a privilege and a reward.

2.  Students are not allowed to go out to the parking lots during the school day without signed office permission from a building level principal.

3.  Only students classified as seniors, juniors, and sophomores will be able to park on campus. Sophomores will be approved for parking after October 1st.

4.  All students participating in the work program will be eligible to park on campus.

5.  Students must have a valid driver’s license, licensed vehicle, and proof of insurance.

6.  Students must park only in the assigned parking spot. Parking is not allowed in the bus lanes, faculty, handicap, visitors, central office area, or other reserved areas. Violators will be charged a $25 fee. If a handicap spot is needed, please see someone in main office.

7.  Students must apply for a permit from the main office. The cost of the permit is $40.00. Students will not be allowed to park without a signed parental permission slip, the driving policy signed, and fee paid. The permit must be hanging from the rear view mirror and be clearly visible.

8.  Students are expected to drive with caution on campus. Buses and pedestrians have the right of way. Consequences for not being a safe driver and not practicing the safe driving rules on school property are:

1st Offense: Loss of driving privileges for nine weeks on campus.

2nd Offense: Vehicle have a parking restraint placed on vehicle at owner’s expense if parked back on campus and safety officer contacted, loss of driving privileges for the rest of the school year. (Principal Discretion to be used.)

9.  Tardiness to school may result in loss of driving privileges.

10. Truancy or leaving school grounds or authorized areas without permission may result in the loss of driving privileges.

11. Students are not allowed to remain in their vehicles; they are to enter school immediately.

12. Students driving to school and parking on school grounds without obtaining a permit will be charged a $25 fee.

13. All vehicles driven to school by a student must be listed on the application. This includes license number, year, make, model, color of vehicle, and a copy of your insurance card on file.

14. Students found loitering in the parking lots will be subject to disciplinary action.

15. Parking permits grant a specific student permission to drive their automobiles to school. Permits may not be shared with, given to, or sold to other students.

PRIVATELY OWNED VEHICLE.

I acknowledge receipt and understanding of Windsor School District’s Guidelines for Student Driving. I understand that failure to comply with this policy letter may result in the loss of my driving privilege, disciplinary action and/or parking restraint of my personal vehicle.
