Whiskeytown Paddleboard Tour Registration Requirements

Please convey ALL of the information listed below to all participants

  1. Reservations are required and can be made by going to or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
  1. Life jackets are provided for adults and children. Everyone must wear them at all times during the program, including swim stops. We recommend you wear a t-shirt under your life jacket for hygienic reasons.
  1. Everyone must use the retaining leash provided, fastened securely around one ankle. This prevents your board from blowing away from you if you fall in.
  1. Maximum allowable weight for safe use of our boards is 220 pounds per person. Will this be an issue for you, or for anyone in your party?
  1. All participants should be capable of kneeling on a hard surface, at least briefly, and should be able to rise to a standing positon from a kneeling position without assistance of any kind. Is this a concern for you, or do you anticipate it being a concern for anyone in your party?
  1. Everyone must be comfortable in the water, and comfortable falling into the water from a standing position. It is very likely you will fall in, as balancing on a board in moving water is a skill achieved only through practice. Is this a concern for you, or do you anticipate it being a concern for anyone in your party?
  1. Everyone must be able to get back onto the paddleboard under their own power in deep water. Is this a concern for you, or do you anticipate it being a concern for anyone in your party?
  1. Ultimately, the ranger leading the program will determine who can attend this program. Everyone must be in good health with no recent illnesses or surgeries.
  1. Children must be at least10 years of age to participate. There must be at least one adult supervisor to take responsibility for all children under 18 in their party. Each person will be on their own board; two riders on one board are strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
  1. Paddleboard programs will last approximately 1.5 hours on the water. Visitors must bring water for each person and wear clothing and footwear that can get wet. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat are highly recommended. Be sureglasses are secured to the head.
  1. Please check in with the ranger at the brown metal shed at Brandy Creek Beach Lot B, at the program at 1:30pm). Visitors who miss thesafety briefing will not be allowed to participate.
  1. A valid vehicle pass must be displayed on driver's side dashboard of your vehicle. If you need a weekly pass, it is best to purchase a pass at the Visitor Center, which is open daily from 10am to 4pm. You can also purchase your weekly and annual Whiskeytown passes through A $20 weekly, $40 Whiskeytown or Lassen Annual pass, Senior Pass (age 62 or older), Access pass, Military pass, or $80 Interagency pass are all valid for parking.
  1. The National Park Service reserves the right to cancel any program due to staff shortages, inclement weather, or for any other safety related reason.
  1. We do not allowfirearms, smoking, or consumption of alcoholic beveragesduring the paddleboard program.

Directions to BRANDY CREEK BEACHLot (B): Travelingfrom Redding on Highway 299, turn left at the visitor center onto John F. Kennedy Memorial Drive. Brandy Creek Beach is approximately 4.2 miles from the visitor center. You will drive across the dam and continue on until you see the signs for “Brandy Creek Beach” and “Kayak Program”. Turn right at Brandy Creek Beach and follow the access road to Brandy Creek parking, Lot “B”. Look for the brown shed at the north end of the parking lot. The park ranger will be at the brown shed.
