Dance /
- Improvise freely, translating ideas from a stimulus into movement
- Create dance phrases that communicate ideas
- Share and create dance phrases with a partner and in a small group
- Repeat, remember and perform these phrases in a dance
- Use dynamic, rhythmic and expressive qualifies clearly and with control
- Understand the importance of warming up and cooling down
- Recognise and talk about the movements used and the expressive qualities of dance
- Suggest improvements to their own and other people's dances
- Talk about a stimulus. Teach them to uselanguage to describe it. eg a machine might be: jerky, pushing, pulling
- Encourage children to explore action wardsthrough different movements
- Teach them to change speed, strength and flowof their movements, and the way they usespace. Encourage them to use their whole bodyand individual parts of their body.
- Teach them to work with a partner and in smallgroups to explore different relationships, egpushing and pulling, actions going over, underand around each other; circling actions meetingand parting.
- Teach them to explore movements with apartner, working in unison and in canon.
- Ask the children to create phrases thatcombine different actions and qualities
- Help them to remember dance phrases bytalking them through the sequence.
