(No breakfast)……(water and drink furnished –bring snack for break time)

July 12-16 7:30-8:30 1st hour- ground work

8:30-9:30 2nd hour …riding

9:30-10:00 break--- drink and snack

10:00- 11:00 3rd hour Bible study

11:00 -12 noon 4th hour –Rope work

Goals:

Catch a horse

Tie a quick release knot

Halter

Lead a horse

Brush a horse

Clean out 4 hoof

Saddle a horse

Put on Bridle

muck

Mount the horse correctly

Start a horse, stop > right/ left, back,

Walk, trot, gallop

Post when the horse trots

Ride up and down a hill

GAMES: Friendly game, porcupine game,

driving game, yo-yo game, circle game

Trotters Camp JULY 12-16, 2010 Parent Information

Requirement: Children must want to come, learn and have a good time.

Your must turn in Application and then pass requirement before you are in the program.

Session: will be for 11 -14 years old / pass the requirements.

Registration must be completed by May 10, 2009 (test will be arranged later by Ms Doris!)

First come will be registered. When we have the maximum number -- registration is closed.

Be sure to eat breakfast before your come! Bring a snack for mid morning.

We will notify you of location later.

Camp starts : 7:15 AM (be on time) Returned to the Center at 12 noon

ALL Liability papers must be signed by parent or legal guardian before the child can go to camp.

This will be done the first morning of camp. (so come early--- parent must sign papers)

ACTIVITIES : ..Get an information sheet

CLOTHING The child will be riding horses and be outdoors: Clothing should be jeans, T- shirt (orange EHG shirt)(no buttons), socks, and shoes. A baseball cap would be ok for the sun. (they must keep the jeans on all day.)

A drink and water will be furnished. (bring a snack mid morning)

No cell phones, I-pods, games, etc. are allowed.

If it rains there will be activities at another location. (inside activities)

If you are sick and cannot attend call 402-1527

IF you have not signed forms- all liability forms .for camp.

You can not attend until this is completed!

ENTER HIS GATES Rules

Attention!! The following rules apply to everyone who visits, participates, volunteers, or works at Enter HIS Gates. Please read these and become familiar with them and pass this information on to anyone who may come with you to the RANCH.

1. Children under 5 will require a leader and at least one side-walker and will only ride at a walk.

2. Children will not ride independently until they are at least 7 yrs of age.

3. There will be no more than 6 able-bodied riders active in the program at one time.

4. Weight limit of 225 pounds for riding a horse.

5. No abusive, threatening, or violent behavior will be tolerated on these premises.

6. Alcohol and illegal drug use are prohibited on grounds or during event at the Ranch.

7. Absolutely NO smoking or use of open flames is permitted on the premises. (Tobacco Free area)

8. No one is permitted to be with horses on the ranch unless a staff member is present on the premises.

9. Children must be supervised at all times.

10. No running, screaming or horse play is allowed around or on the horses.

11. No one is allowed to handle horses, feed, or pet horses unless supervised by a staff member.

12. No one may enter a pasture or stall containing horses unless accompanied by a staff member.

13. No one may ride a horse unless supervised by a staff member. Everyone who rides

must have a current and complete (annual) Registration/release packet on file.

14. Every person must have a completed, signed and dated current liability packet on file to be on the property..

15. All riders must wear a helmet while mounted and wear shoes. (hard soled shoes with heals-boots)

16. All volunteers must have a completed, signed and dated current Volunteer packet on file in order to

work at Enter HIS Gates. All volunteers must complete a volunteer training course. Volunteers must

sign in and out wherever they volunteer at the Ranch.

17. Instructors will routinely check all tack and equine and human first aid and emergency equipment for safety.

18. No Dogs are allowed. During camp or kid events, No phones, I-pod, games, etc.

19. Report all accidents, injuries, or hazardous conditions to a staff member immediately.

20. Proper riding attire at all times is mandatory. (long pants, t-shirt -EHG orange shirt),(no buttons), socks, shoes)

21. Do not go into the family home. Stay out of the barns and out sheds.

22. No swimming or playing in the ponds.

23. Every one that comes to the Enter HIS Gates program (visitor, parent, children, etc) must sign the release.

24. Discipline of children: 1st time warned by counselor 2nd taken to camp director

3rd It is our desire to keep each child in camp, however, continued disobedience may result in dismissal.

Grievance of Campers or participant

Requirement for camp: The child must want to be at camp. We want every child to enjoy and feel wanted and accepted. We do not want to send any child home, however:

1. A display of fire-starting, threatening behavior, animal abuse, the abuse of children or adults, verbal abuse of volunteers or other, alcohol or drug use on grounds, or behavior that is disruptive for the normal functioning of the program on the part of the rider.

2. Frequent missed lessons without advance notification. The Volunteer will take the problem to the activity person.

If the matter is not settled and attitude changed, then it will be taken to the Director.

3. All dismissals will be handled by the Director. A written reason for dismissal will be recorded in the file.

The grounds for dismissal will be discussed with the person/parent in private.
