AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK is here! The week of November 12th is American Education Week! We have planned several events for you and your children so please come up and visit us to see what is going on in our school.

Monday – November 12, 2012 – HAPPY VETERANS DAY

Crazy Socks Day!!! – Students and Staff will come to school with their craziest socks on!! Students must wear uniforms.

Tuesday – November 13, 2012

Dynamic Denim Day! – Students and Staff are invited to wear their favorite denim bottom to school. StudentsMUST have on their uniform shirt in order to participate in Dynamic Denim Day.

Donuts for Dad Workshop –. Urban LeadershipInstitutepresents a workshop that willfocus on celebrating fatherhood and exploring strategies to support healthy father and child bonds. This workshop will also address male parenting strategies. ALL MALE FAMILY MEMBERS WELCOME AT 9:30am in the Parent Room.

College Shirts for Staff! – Harford Heights staff members will come dressed up in their favorite college shirts. Staff members will share positive school experiences with students.

Wednesday – November 14, 2012

Crazy Hat Day – Students and Staff will come to school with their most creatively crazy hats on!! Students must wear uniforms.

Education Support Professionals Day – We would like to celebrate the outstanding work of individuals who provide invaluable services to our school every day. ESPs include: paraeducators, office assistants, bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, school nurse, and school police. We salute you and all that you do to ensure that our students receive an education in an environment that is conducive to learning.

Parents vs. Staff Basketball Game –Last year the Parents beat the Staff…REMATCH TIME. If you are a parent/guardian and think “You Got Game” and want to have a fun time battling the Amazing Harford Heights Staff in basketball, please sign up in the main office. The cost is a $2 donation to play to benefit the Attendance Committee. The game will take place at 2:00 pm, in the gymnasium. For any questions, please see Mr. Bowman.

Scholastic Book Fair-Scholars will be invited to purchase books from our Fall Scholastic Book Fair. Please see book fair flyer for a sample of the costs.

Thursday – November 15, 2012

Topsy-Turvy Day– Students and Staff are invited to have a topsy-turvy day by wearing mismatched shoes and socks! Students must wear uniforms.

Family Reading Night – Join us for an evening filled with fun reading make-and-take activities for the whole family to enjoy. There will be free dinner and prizes raffled towards the end of the evening. We will also sell great books at the Scholastic Book Fair.

Volunteer Appreciation Day – We would like to celebrate our current volunteers who come to “work” every week to ensure the success of all of our scholars. All previously registered volunteers are welcome to donuts and juice in the parent room at 10am.

YoJo “Choose to Read” Assembly - Synopsis:YoJo initially has a bad attitude about reading. He feels it's a complete waste of time and would rather indulge himself in watching TV and playing video games. The show's host is determined to change this negative position, so he puts YoJo in various situations where choosing not to read leads to several comical mishaps.

Book Fair OPEN – Scholars will have the opportunity to purchase books today from the Scholastic Book Fair.

Substitute Educators Day – Today we salute our substitute teachers. These professional educators perform a vital function in the maintenance and continuity of daily education. In our public school systems, substitutes are the educational bridges when regular classroom educators are absent.

Our Favorite Read Aloud – Today during our normal Daily Rap session all classes will engage in active listening of their teacher’s favorite Read Aloud.
