There is an awesome upcoming event for all SWE members.Yazaki North America has offered to host a lunch to allSWE, NSBE and SHPE college contacts. The event is on Friday, April 11 from 12-1:30 at Yazaki's location in Canton, MI. Please RSVP by April 4 to Tanisha Thibodaux, PHR at .

Also, don't forget that SWE elections are coming up on April 9th. We have many e-board positions available for next year. Please consider running if you are looking for a leadership role within the college.

Hello SWEsters,

Today, we have 3 representatives from HDR: Colleen Layman, Chloe Grabowski, and Aerin Klump.

Colleen has over 20 years of experience in the engineering design, construction, commissioning and operation of power generating facilities, with primary focus on water and wastewater systems. She is a senior life member of SWE, and is currently serving on the Society Board of Directors as the Director of Regions. Colleen has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Thomas Edison State College, a master’s in water resources and environmental engineering from Villanova University, and an MBA in management of engineering and technology from North Central University, and is a registered professional engineer.

Chloe Grabowski has recently joined HDR?s Power Generation group as a Civil/Environmental EIT. Chloe graduated May, 2013 from Michigan State University’s Honors College with a degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering. Most lately, Chloe has completed a six month internship with Consumers Energy. Previously she interned at the Lansing Board of Water and Light’s Dye Water Treatment Plant, as well as Nature’s Voice Our Choice in Ann Arbor.

Aerin Klump has recently joinedHDR as a Mechanical EIT.She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Fall 2013. Aerin has previously completed internships at Eaton Corporation as a Quality Manufacturing Engineer, and Ford Motor Company as a Certification & Application Engineer.

I can honestly tell you that being a part of the E-board has been a great experience and I encourage all of you to consider running for positions. SIGN UP for our RELAY FOR LIFE “SPARTAN ENGINEERS” TEAM at www.relayforlife.org !! The event is this Friday, March 28 at 6pm. Once you are signed up, don’t forget to fundraise and recruit ANY Spartan Engineers on our team who’d like to join!! Our team will be selling yummy treats! Come out and help support the American Cancer Society! Girls going to the Capital Area Humane Society on Saturday, April 19th from 11-1 continue to check your email for updates.

We will be going to STEM this Thursday, March 27 from 2:40-4pm. For those who don't know, STEM is a school that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. We go to a STEM elementary school in Lansing every other week and do different engineering activities with them.
