Private Duty Aides
HOUSE RULES

POLICY

The Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC) is dedicated to assuring that private duty aide services provided by independent Home Health Agencies or private duty aides defined as non-medical support personnel meet the community’s house rules and adhere to the JCHC standards of providing a safe and secure community.

PURPOSE

JCHC will maintain an ongoing and active monitoring of the Home Health Aides that are providing care for residents on a contractual basis at it’s communities to assure the highest standards of professionalism and adhering to house rules is established.

PROCEDURES:

1. Letter of Information

An informational letter regarding quality care standards of private aide for residents is provided at time of residency. This letter outlines house rules and regulatory guidelines for both the certification of aides and the regulatory requirements for the Home Health Providerand / or private duty aides. Live-in Aides are required to go through a criminal background check.

2. Sign in Sheets- Affordable Housing as applicable

Private duty aides are required to sign in at the front desk at start of shift. If the private duty is a live-in, said person must sign in daily, with the words (Live-In)

3. Regulatory Compliance

Home Health Agency, or residents’ family, in conjunction with Site Manager or Designee, will orientate all Private Duty aides prior to assignment at JCHC communities.

4. Dress/Appearance

Each certified private duty caregiver is responsible to ensure that his/her attire is appropriate for the community as well as for the safety of both the client and themselves when rendering care.

Name Badge will be provided to non – agency private duty aides by the JCHC administration office. Contracted Home health agencies will supply name badges.

Uniform should be worn AT ALL TIMES, with a visible identification badge.

Uniforms are designed as scrubs, or a pair of slacks with a uniform top.

The following items are NOT permitted:

-Shorts

-Sweat clothes/exercise outfits

-Suggestive and/or revealing attire

- No logos or Inappropriate sayings on clothing

-Roller/hair nets.

-Slippers/flip flops /opened toed sandals

4. General Conduct

The private duty caregiver is expected at all times to display conduct that is professional and courteous.

The following must also be acknowledged and adhered to at all times:

-No loitering in the open community/public areas

-No sitting in vestibules, community rooms when residents are in need of seating.

-Courtesy must be practiced to all residents and visitors

-No smoking is permitted in the building. Outside designated areas only.

-No cell phone use in open community/public areas

-No alcoholic drinks or illegal substances

-No use of obscene and inappropriate language

-All internal rules and regulations must be followed

5.Cell Phone & Telephone Use

Cell phones are prohibited at ALL times while in main community and whilst rendering care.

Should the private duty caregiver need or wish to use his/her cell phone, he/she should remove themselves from the public area and enter into the assigned areas or within the private apartment of his/her client.

At no time should the private duty caregiver leave the client unattended if it is deemed that safety measures are not appropriately in place.

6.Dining/Meal times

The dining room areas are restricted to resident use only, unless client requires cueing or assistance. The meal may be paid for by the resident.

The private duty caregiver is required to maintain close visual on the resident during this time and should only take/leave their client if there is no safety/risk factor apparent.

Sleeping is NOT allowed in the common areas of the community.

8.. Neglect/Abuse & Incident Reporting

All private duty aides will be responsible to report any incidents that may be observed that potentially may be verbal, physical and/or emotional abuse.Incidents will be reported to Site Manager and Home Health Agency Management.

It is also understood that should the individual private duty aide be suspected of any of the above towards a resident, this will result in the immediate removal of the private duty aide and a full report will be submitted to the appropriate authorities.

Your signature below also indicates that should the rules be violated, this can result in expulsion from the facility.
