RESULTS OF PATIENT SURVEY

A big Thank You to all of those patients who completed our survey in

March 2013

125 patient surveys were handed to patients during surgery times to obtain feedback on issues our Patient Group felt were most important to patients of the practice.

The whole of our practice population were covered in the survey as per the diagrams below:

MaleUnder 1616-4445-6465-7575+

FemaleUnder 1616-4445-6465-7575+

The results of the survey are as follows:

1.Do you use the self patient check in screens on the back wall? If not please give the reason why.

Yes119 No6

Comments from patients on why they did not use the screens:

  • I am not very good with technology, especially when poorly
  • I do for myself but when trying to check my daughter in recently it did not work
  • Prefer to use reception
  • Habit

Some patients commented why they did use the screens:

  • Easier than queuing
  • Easy and convenient
  • Also use the desk – I find staff friendly and helpful – Caroline was very helpful

The reception team are there to help anyone with queries and patients have a choice to use the screen or reception when checking in for an appointment. As patients have mentioned, it is easier and more convenient to use the screen if you are just checking in for an appointment. Anyone who has a problem when using the check in screen can ask the reception team for help.

2.Are you aware we offer Early Morning Appointments?

We are pleased that these appointments are being utilised and were implemented to help the patients who work or have commitments that prevent them being able to attend during core surgery times.

3.Do you find the Telephone System Useful?

The survey revealed that :

58%of those surveyed found it to be useful or very useful

In Summary

78%of patients surveyed found the telephone system to be acceptable to very good

22%of patients found this to be below standard

If you have a problem with the phone system please let the Office Manager, Chris Kennedy or one of the reception team know. We can then try to resolve this for you.

4.If you could order your prescription “on line” would you be interested in using this feature?

69% of patients surveyed said they would like the opportunity to request their prescription electronically and as a result of this the admin team have created an email address so that patients have another method of ordering their prescription.

Email address

If you need help with this please telephone Louise at the practice who can advise

5.Do you know the practice has a website?

- please type in top right hand box of computer screen on internet, not into Google, and save in your favourites.

YES26NO99

The survey revealed that 78% of the patients surveyed did not know that the practice had its own website.

The practice team have devised a slip to attach to prescriptions so that more patients are informed of our website. This report and future developments in the practice will be added to the website at the end of March on the Patient Participation screen. You can view last years’ report on the website page.

6.Would you be interested in helping us to update our website and make it user friendly for our patients?

Some patients ticked that they would like to help the team make the website more patient friendlybut did not leave their contact details. 3 patients did and I, June Pace, the Practice Manager will be contacting them in April/May 2013 to get this underway.

One patient also made a suggestion that was not relevant to the survey but would

benefit all patients –

“When a GP is running latecan the reception team inform the patients waiting to see that particular GP,so that a patient has the opportunity to make an alternative appointment or is able to make a decision to wait but may need to contact family or a person that they care for to let them know they are going to be late”.

Once again, thank you from our Practice Team to those patients who took the time to complete the survey andall patientsare welcome to get involved in practice development by joining our Patient Forum, either by email or in person. You may just want to receive copies of patient minutes/documents in the post or read them in the surgery.

This is our surgery and we need to work together to make it the best for all.
