LAMB CARCASS SHOW

Weigh In Wednesday 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Judging Thursday 7:30 A.M.

Show limited to twenty (20) entries – limit two (2) entries per exhibitor

General Rules:

1.  Weigh-in must be completed after Junior Fair Lambs on Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

2.  Lambs must weigh over 90 lbs., slick shorn and clean.

3.  Premiums paid on carcass placing.

4.  Lambs not meeting weight requirement will be sold at market.

5.  Please refer to Health Rule 901:1-18-09 Ohio Department of Agriculture.

6.  Lambs must meet average minimum certification standards and show no evidence of Calipyge gene to place.

8.  2.3 square inch minimum loin eye, .25 inch maximum back fat, 50 lbs. minimum carcass weight and 85 lbs. maximum carcass weight.

SHEEP BREEDING

General Rules:

1.  Sheep will be judged for both wool and mutton characteristics, with special consideration for wool and mutton production in the

respective classes.

2.  All classes will be judged where there is competition in the arena.

3.  Animals over one (1) year of age must be registered in their respective associations and carry correct labels in their ears.

4.  Exhibitors come prepared to show certificate of registry or eligibility of registration when making entry. All transfers of owner-

Ship to have been filed and recorded at least thirty (30) days before entry is made. Any violation of this rule will cause the

exhibitor to forfeit all prizes won in the sheep department.

5. Exhibitors shall be limited to entries in two (2) breeds.

6.  Any person entering and showing any sheep and misrepresenting age, condition or ownership of the sheep will forfeit the

premium and will be excluded from competing.

7.  Any exhibitor’s flock shall consist of one (1) ram - two (2) yearling ewes - two (2) ewe lambs.

8.  Classes will be shown in the order as determined by the Directors.

9.  Entries are limited to two (2) in the individual classes and one (1) in the groups.

10.  Open class lambs not weighed for Junior Fair will be weighted Saturday of the fair before the show at 9:00 a.m.

11.  All sheep from outside the county will pull-in and show. They will not be housed.

12.  Please refer to Rule 901:1-18-09 in the Health Regulations from the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

13.  Ice, cold towels or stimulants used to alter or change the characteristic of the animal will result in automatic disqualification and

Loss of ALL premiums.

14.  All feet of show animals must be touching the surface of the show arena

15.  Entries are open to Hancock County exhibitors and to all exhibitors from counties holding fairs open to Hancock County exhibitors.

MARKET LAMB

Show immediately after Hancock County Junior Fair Born & Raised Class

1.  Market Lambs shall consist of Grades and Crossbreeds and must be slick shorn.

2.  No animal is to weigh less than eighty (80) pounds.

3.  Lambs showing any evidence of testicular tissue shall not be eligible for competition in Market Lamb classes.

4.  All market lambs must be under one (1) year of age and show lamb teeth.

5.  Exhibitors will be awarded only two (2) premiums.

6.  This show is open to all counties.

7.  Premiums will be paid in all classes.

8.  Fifty (50) lambs or less will have two (2) classes – Lightweight and Heavyweight.

9.  Over fifty (50) lambs will require a medium weight class to be added.

10.  Weights to be determined by superintendents.
