RFID and Telecommunication
Services Workshop

Part of the annual series of joint workshops with Data Base Forum Casa Nova on

STANDARDS AND SERVICES OF THE FUTURE”

< Come to discuss the developments on RFID, see added-value information services and select new standardization projects that could benefit your industry >

25 May 2004, ETSI Headquarters, Amphi Athena
Sophia Antipolis, France

While RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology has been around for a number of years, industry watchers have tipped 2004 as the time for RFID take-off and industries converging on developing RFID applications and services. This huge wave of “Internet among things” just started.

Many end-users are still trying to understand RFID. Advanced technology working in many application environments (logistics, security, identification) and having a large market potential in many businesses, RFID technology deployment still requires a solid market understanding in this highly fragmented competitive environment. RFID represents a generic technology with many lines of products (active, passive, Near Field Communications, etc.)

Recognizing that emerging standards are key to the uptake of RFID technology, and aiming to ensure consistent use across the various parties in a supply chain, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), in co-operation with Data Base Forum Casa Nova (House of the Future Project), is organizing the “RFID and Telecommunication Services” workshop on 25 May 2004, at its premises in Sophia Antipolis, France.

The workshop belongs to the series of ETSI-Data Base Forum Casa Nova joint annual events on “Standards and Services of the future” and will cover a complex range of factors associated with the rapidly emerging RFID technology, addressing the latest R&D trends and proposals for standardization. ETSI is inviting you to come to discuss the developments on RFID, see concrete applications and prototypes of the future (developed within Casa Nova) and select new standardization projects that could benefit your industry.
